BACKGROUND
Grand Prairie High School (CEEB # 442930) is accredited by the
Texas Education Agency and the Southern Association of
Secondary Schools and Colleges. Our current enrollment is
approximately 2700 students. Our curriculum focuses on rigorous
college preparatory and career-technical courses. Evening classes
and summer enrichment courses for acceleration are also offered.
GPHS prides itself in the quality of its teaching staff and the
success of its students.
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Grand Prairie High School operates on a semester calendar. The 36week school year is divided into two eighteen-week terms. Report
cards are issued every 9 weeks. Our students attend seven classes
each day and each class meets for 50 minutes. Students may earn 7
credits per year.
Grand Prairie High School will provide all students with
challenging, academically sound, character-based educational
experiences empowering them to become productive citizens in an

GPHS LOCATION
Grand Prairie is a suburb of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
We are located in the northern part of Grand Prairie, just south
of I-30.
AWARDING OF CREDITS
A student in a full credit course who fails one semester and passes
the other semester may receive full credit if the average of the two
semesters is 70 or
above.

GRADING SYSTEM
All grades are recorded numerically. Seventy is the lowest passing grade.
100 – 70= passing
WD= Withdrawn
NG = No Grade
P=Pass
F=Fail
WEIGHTED POINT SYSTEM
Grand Prairie High School Advanced Placement (AP), Pre-Advanced
Placement (Pre AP), and Dual Credit courses received weighted grade
points. A cumulative grade point average usually begins in the 9 th grade
and is updated after each semester. Students who take approved high
school courses while in middle school receive the same grade points as
the equivalent course taken in high school. Courses taken in middle
school are designated by “J” on the transcript.
