AASFAA EXECUTIVE BOARD MINUTES REVISED SLATE OF CANDIDATES APPROVAL MINUTES MAY 13 – JUNE 26, 2013 EMAIL PAGE 1 OF 2 May 7, 2013 Darryl Jackson, newly elected Treasurer Elect, notified the Vickie Adams of the AASFAA Executive Board that he would need to resign the position of Treasurer Elect due to an increased work load at Alabama A&M. May 13, 2013 – June 4, 2013 Vickie Adams, Awards, Nominations and Elections Committee Chair, reported to the Board that Darrly Jackson had resigned his post as Treasurer Elect. She stated the following Bylaw, Article III, Section D: “Vacancies. In the event of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice-President shall succeed to that office. Except for the office of President-Elect, and Treasurer-Elect other vacancies shall be filled by appointment of the President with the approval of the Executive Board. When a vacancy occurs in the President-elect or Treasurer-elect position, that office will remain vacant until such time as a new election can be held.” Vickie asked Kristie Jones, Phillip Nelson and Lisa Lilley if one of them would consider running in a special elections. Phillip Nelson declined nomination. Lisa Lilley did not respond. Ann Campbell suggested asking Brian Quisenberry. Brian was contacted, but declined the nomination. June 6, 2013 Vickie Adams posted the following announcement on the AASFAA Listserv to obtain nominations for Treasurer-elect: I am once again soliciting nominations for Treasurer-elect for 2013-2014. Due to an added workload, Mr. Darryl Jackson, our newly elected AASFAA Treasurer-elect, has stepped down from the 2013-2014 position. We appreciate his support for AASFAA and acknowledge his commitment to his University. The by-laws state we must hold an election for vacancies in the President-elect and Treasurer-elect. I have included the statement: D. Vacancies. In the evet of a vacancy in the office of President, the Vice-President shall succeed to that office. Except for the office of President-Elect, and Treasurer-Elect other vacancies shall be filled by appointment of the President with the approval of the Executive Board. When a vacancy occurs in the President-elect or Treasurer-elect position, that office will remain vacant until such time as a new election can be held. I have also included the description for Treasurer-elect: The Treasurer-Elect will assist the Treasurer. The Treasurer-Elect shall: 1. Seek to learn all the fiscal duties and responsibilities of the Treasurer's office; and, 2. This is a great way to serve your AASFAA Association. June 11, 2013 Jay Powell, Independent Financial Consultant and Kristie Jones, Nelnet, agreed to run for the office of Treasurer-elect. June 25, 2013 the Executive Board votes were as follows: Sharon Williams, President – Accept Vickie Adams, Past President – Accept Kevin Ammons, President-Elect – Accept Phillip Nelson, Vice President – Accept Stephanie Miller, Secretary – Accept Ann Campbell, Treasurer – Accept With 6 of 6 voting members of the Executive Board voting to accept, the 2013-2014 slate of candidates for AASFAA’s Treasurer-elect were accepted for nomination by the Executive Board. June 26, 2013 Vickie Adams, Awards, Nominations and Elections Committee Chair, sent a Special Elections Email to the AASFAA Listserv requesting the membership to vote for one of the Treasurer-elect nominees.
