Plant and Animal Cell Models Project You will make a 3-dimensional model of a plant and animal cell. Your model should not exceed 12 cm in length, 8 cm in width, and 10 cm in height. Include the following organelles: chloroplast (only in a plant cell), Golgi complex, secretory vesicle (exocytosis), lysosome, rough ER, smooth ER, ribosome, nucleus, nuclear membrane, nucleolus, chromatin, cytosol, vacuole, Large central vacuole (plant cell only), cell membrane, mitochondria, cell wall (only in a plant cell), cytoskeleton, and peroxisomes, plasmodesmata (plant cell only). You must include a key so that your model can be understood. On your key, make sure you include a description of what the organelle does for the cell. Your key can be made any way you choose. When you are making your organelles for the cell, you may make additional ones for the key. Glue them on a piece of paper and use them for your key. You may also choose to take a picture of your cell and make a key from your picture. Be creative! Maybe you can think of another way to make a key. You get more points for innovative thinking! Do not… Turn your project in late! Projects are due on Friday, Nov. 21. Make your cell larger than the dimensions given above. Leave a mess at your table each day. Points WILL be deducted from your project. Leave cloud clay out and not sealed in a Ziploc bag. Don’t mix colors in a Ziploc bag. Goof off during work time. You will not get your project completed. This project is worth 200 points for each model. Open more bags than necessary! Check with other groups before opening a new bag! MAKE THE BASE OF THE CELL OUT OF BLACK OR BROWN BECAUSE THOSE ARE THE COLORS WE HAVE THE MOST OF.
