How Could They Have Tolerated That?
How could people 100 years ago have tolerated no limitations on water or cutting down
trees or not caring enough about the environment? Now we are faced with a huge problem and
we are trying to fix what people 100 years ago made the mistake to take water and trees for
granted. We are trying to preserve our water for as long as we can. Fresh water is running low
and we have to find more water for our future generations. 100 years ago they had about 2.5
percent of fresh water and two-thirds and some more in the glaciers and ice caps, but the
numbers have significant dropped since then. We are trying to find alternatives and other
methods that can be used, as water and it can be easier to obtain.
Water is very important and I wish people 100 years ago had realized the damage that
taking water for granted could have cause for example: difficulty for plants to grow, health
problems and lives of animals. Having a limitation on water can be very difficult, since our
bodies needed for survival, we use it to make food, we use water to grow plants, and animals
need water to survive. One century ago, people would waste water pretty sure on anything and
everything. For example: washing cars, washing dishes
Another conflict we have to face is climate change or/and global warming. Temperatures
have significantly increased so the glaciers and ice caps have lost a lot of fresh water. People
back then didn’t realize the damage they were causing with factories and pollution, releasing bad
toxins into our air and got trapped in out atmosphere. Other factors that caused global warming
are transport, forestry, energy supply, waste and wastewater and agriculture. The reason why
transportation was a leading cause of global warming is because people back then relied on cars
that were would run in gasoline and that gasoline got trapped in our atmosphere. The reason
forestry was another cause of global warming was because cutting thousands of trees all that
wood and dust trees released would go to the atmosphere as well. Energy supply was another
cause of global warming cause, because in order to make energy fossil fuel had to be burned,
such as coal, oil and gas and they pollute the atmosphere. Waste and water waste are a cause of
global warming because the gas of the waste goes to the atmosphere but then comes back in
rainfall and contaminates the clean water. And agriculture is also a cause of global warming
because it creates a barrier between the atmosphere and soil and then the air is not released back
into our air. However, 100 years ago they stared using car that don’t required gasoline to run,
instead they stared using an electric car, this helped us save some of our petroleum and natural
resources.
Since 100 years ago people taught it was acceptable for them to cut down entire forests,
destroying habits and eventually causing that to extinct some animals. Now we are forced to
grow out vegetables electronic and our trees. We also don’t have a lot of oxygen and animals,
due to the fact we don’t have enough water and our air is so polluted. Another example for the
lack of trees is our houses are now made of plastic so we don’t use wood anymore to reserve our
tress for oxygen and animal life.
We must care of our planet because this is our home and we need it to stay as good as it
can be, and worry about future generations and our animals.
