We are committed to providing a consistent and open admission procedure. It is our intention to make our provision accessible to children and families from all sections of the community. Our admissions policy operates within an Equal Opportunities Framework and is regularly reviewed. At The Wendy House Nursery we have an inclusive policy for admissions. We welcome children with a range of Special Educational Needs. We never have, and have no intention in the future of, discriminating against any child on the grounds of sex, race, religion or special needs/disability. We will ensure that the existence of The Wendy House Nursery is widely known in the local community. We are fully aware of our obligations with regards to data protection and storing and sharing of information (See information sharing policy) We provide Government funded 2 year old and 3&4 year old places aswell as offering the option of additional sessions if available. We liaise closely with the local Link Worker to identify and accommodate families that may be eligible for this funding. We will ensure that information about our setting is accessible in written form to all where necessary we will try to provide spoken form, Braille, in more than one language or an interpreter. Children from the age of 8 weeks will be admitted in accordance with our Ofsted Registration. We will be as flexible as possible regarding attendance to accommodate the needs of all families. The waiting list will be monitored and reviewed regularly. As families make an enquiry about a place they are provided with a nursery handbook and the manager explains the admission process face to face also. If the nursery is over subscribed, priority is given to children on a first come first served basis or if their siblings currently attend the setting; children will be added to the waiting list accordingly. Once a place becomes available the family will be contacted and the admission procedure will begin. Once families decide that they would like to access a place they are required to complete all relevant paperwork including : Contract Child’s emergency medical treatment form Photograph permission Admission form. In line with the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 requirements we must also log each child’s full name, DOB, name and address of every parent and/or carer who is known to the provider (and information about any other person who has parental responsibility for the child) which parent (s) and/or carer (s) the child normally lives with: and emergency contact details for parent and/or carers. We will provide families with: Information about how we deliver the EYFS (A parents guide will be provided) Information about the range and type of activities and experiences provided for children, the daily routines of the setting and how parents or carers can share learning at home. Information about food and drinks provided. We offer snacks throughout the day and families will need to provide a healthy packed lunch for any child attending over lunch time. Healthy lunch box advice will be given. Information and key [policies including safeguarding that includes uncollected child and missing child. Information about our staff team including who the named key person is and the telephone number for the nursery. We display the OFSTED poster for families that includes the contact details. We want children to feel safe and happy in the absence of their parents. Our settling in procedures aim to help parents to help their children to feel comfortable in pre school, to benefit from what it has to offer, and to be confident that their parents will return at the end of the session/day In order to accomplish this, we will: Work with families in insuring their child’s individual care needs are met. We also aim to make sure each child’s admission is a happy experience for both the child and the family. Ensure good communication. This is vital so we can discuss information openly in partnership. Ask questions when they arise and hold discussions that are orientated towards a positive outcome for your child as a team. Each child is allocated a Key Person and families will be made aware of who that named person is throughout the child’s settle period. We hold a yearly open day that perspective families are invited to. Settle visits are provided for children with their family before they start. Additional visits will be offered if required and we will encourage parents, where appropriate, to separate from their children for brief periods at first, gradually building up to longer absences. If children have an identified Special Educational Need we will follow the Early Years Inclusion Team procedure regarding transition to enable us to support transition effectively (See Equal opportunities policy including Special Educational Needs). We will make reasonable adaptations if required. Further information regarding admission is explained within the parent Handbook. Opening Times The nursery is open 51weeks of the year from 20th October 2014. We offer flexibility to enable children to attend full or half days. Extra sessions can be accommodated at an additional cost (See Fees section). This must be discussed with the manager to ensure they have space for your child. If we are able to accommodate you, you will be booked in and a charge made for that day or session. If for some reason you find yourself not needing the session you must inform your nursery manager as soon as possible. In some circumstances you may still be charged for this session to cover staffing costs, food bills etc. Fees Contracts are drawn up with the manager and will be signed by both parties. Fees are payable one month in advance. Cheques can be made payable to The Wendy House Nursery ltd, standing orders can be set up, card. Invoices are then provided. If your child is off sick or on holiday the fees are also still payable. All outstanding fees, administration charge(s), should be paid in cash. Four weeks notice is required to secure additional sessions or cancel sessions. We deliver our service in return for an agreed fee from parents and carers and all fees should be paid promptly and in line with the policy set out in this document. If fees are not paid on time the manager will write to the parent after 1 week requesting the payment. Any missed payments can impact upon further sessions being provided. Families are encouraged to speak to a member of staff if they are having difficulty making a payment to ensure this doesn’t jeopardise their child’s place. Where fees are paid by a third party such as Social Care, Employer, College or any other third party, The Wendy House Nursery requires parents / carers to inform their sponsor of its fee policy in advance of the arrangement. Attendance If your child is sick please phone the nursery by 8am to let us know that your child will not be attending nursery. We also need to be informed as to what is wrong with your child in case it is infectious or there is a specific exclusion period for your child. On some occasions your child will not be able to return to nursery until your child has been checked by a doctor and is deemed well enough to return. If a child fails to attend for more than 2 days and no contact has been made by the family the manager will contact the parents to check the welfare of the child. If contact cannot be gained the manager will write to the family after 4 days to seek an explanation and to remind the parent that attendance could impact upon the child’s place. The funding team will be informed in all cases where a child has not attended for longer than 21 days in a year. If the managers have any concerns about a child’s welfare they will contact the Central Duty Team to discuss this immediately in line with Safeguarding procedures. Lateness If you are running late to drop off your child or to pick them up please phone us as soon as possible. (See uncollected child section within the safeguarding policy) Holidays If you are going on holiday please let the nursery know as soon as possible, when you are going and when you will return. Bottles and Dummies We discourage toddlers from using bottles and provide healthy refreshments in beakers and cups. We also discourage the use of dummies, unless the child is very young or needs comforting. Speech and language therapists and dentists also promote this advice.
