PATIENT-CENTERED CARE EXPERIENCE
Lisa joined Planetree in October of 2011. Her tenure with the organization has included work with the
Planetree VA National team to provide training for the Office of Patient Centered Care & Cultural
Transformation Field-based Implementation Team members. The purpose of this nationally led effort
is for ongoing integration of Patient-centered Care practices and Organizational Transformation
within individual VA healthcare facilities across the Veterans Health Administration network.
Additionally Lisa has worked with both VA and private industry healthcare facilities in providing
educational materials, coaching, and assessments related to the application of organizational and
cultural improvement efforts as well as implementation of healing environment, human factors and
Human-Centered design attributes. This has also included quality management work using Planetree’s
Patient-Centered Performance Improvement methodology to facilitate work system redesign efforts
and environment of care design and right sizing for healthcare organizations.
Lisa uses her training in Industrial-Organizational Psychology to apply concepts drawn from
behavioral science, training design, team management and work place analysis to assist in resolving
challenges facing the human resource component of the healthcare delivery system. Her professional
background also includes twenty years in the field of healthcare architecture and design; during this tenure
as a licensed interior designer, Lisa demonstrated a proven expertise in the utilization of empirical
evidence and Patient-Centered strategies in the creation of new and renovation of existing healthcare
facilities. Lisa is also a passionate champion of sustainability in the design, building, and operational
processes for healthcare. She is a LEED Accredited Professional for Building Design and Construction
and has served on several City Environmental Advisory Boards, has lectured to Universities and private
industry groups regarding the benefits and strategies of including sustainable practices into their
corporate and operational models.
