Famous Faces Name Game: 1940s Movie Star Edition Step-by-Step Goal: To increase viewership and usage of Touchtown TV+, Digital Signage, and/or Web Portal. Preparation 1. Schedule a Famous Faces Kickoff Event with a movie star theme. 2. Decide what the prizes will be and how winners will be selected. 3. Schedule Email and/or Forum classes. 4. Optional: Schedule a Final Event. 5. Print copies of the Famous Faces Resident Handout and distribute in resident mailboxes or common areas, send it as an email attachment, pass them out at the Kickoff Event, and/or post a copy in the forums. 6. Print out the third page of this Step-by-Step to use as an Answer Key. Promotion: Promote the Kickoff Event, Famous Faces Name Game, and Final Event via Touchtown TV+, flyers, activity calendars, newsletter, Web Portal, and as verbal announcements at other activities. On an Announcement slide, briefly outline the rules of the game, how to submit completed puzzles, and prizes. Print the slide to create a flyer. Sample Announcement: Title: Description: Name that Famous Face! Check your mailbox for the Famous Faces handout. Log into Touchtown daily to view the 1940s movie star(s) in the Famous Faces discussion. Correctly name each famous face to win! Submit responses via email by June 30th. At The Kickoff 1. Announce the Famous Faces Name Game. Explain the rules and how to submit answers. 2. Hand out copies of the Famous Faces Resident Handout. 3. Activity Idea (for the Kickoff or Final Event): Movie Star Theme: Movie Night - Play a movie starring one or more of the featured famous faces movie stars. Serve popcorn and refreshments to draw a crowd. Role-Play - Ask residents to dress like their favorite 1940s actor/actress and role play! Bring a camera and take pictures. Afterward, post the photos on Touchtown. (Optional) Ask residents not attending the event to guess which “Famous Face” each resident is imitating. Playing the Game on Touchtown Web Portal: Rules of the Game Residents must log into Touchtown each day and visit the Famous Faces folder in the Photo Gallery to view the famous face(s) of the day. Each Famous Face is assigned a number which appears below the image or when the mouse is placed on top of it. Residents should write the name of each person they recognize next to the corresponding Famous Face number on the Famous Faces Resident Handout or on a blank piece of paper (if they do not use the handout, they should also include the Famous Face number). Completed handouts should be submitted to you via email or at the Final Event. The resident who names the most famous faces correctly wins! Playing the Game Copy one or two Famous Faces per day to your Web Portal Photo Gallery. There are 60 famous faces in all. Copying two a day equals a 30-day game; copying one a day, 60. If you would like to add one famous face a day, but would like the game to last 30 days, simply pick only 30 famous faces to copy for the game. Copying Photos to the Web Portal Photo Gallery: 1) Log into Touchtown and choose Administration (if the Gallery button does not appear above). 2) Select Gallery/Image Gallery. 3) Click on the Our Photos folder. 4) Choose Add Folder (at left) to add a subfolder to Our Photos. 5) Call the new folder “Famous Faces”. © 2009 Touchtown Inc. 1 6) 7) 8) 9) 10) Locate and click on the Touchtown Kits folder and then select the 40sMovieStars folder. Click on the image you would like to add to the Web Portal Photo Gallery. Choose Copy To and then select the Famous Faces folder from the list at left. Click on the newly copied image (in the Famous Faces folder). Remove the Title by backspacing, or by highlighting the text and hitting delete on the keyboard. IMPORTANT: If you do not do this then the answer will be given away. 11) Save Changes. If you don’t have a Photo Gallery, this game can also be played via Touchtown E-mail and forums: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Click on the famous face(s) of the day. Click on it again for a large version. Right-click on the photo and choose Save As. Save a copy to your computer. Add as an E-mail or forum attachment. Creating a resident E-mail main list: 1) Go to the Web Portal Admin page. 8) Delete each column minus the email addresses. 2) Click on Account Manager. 3) Select Show Resident Accounts. 9) Click on the column letter until a down arrow appears and all email addresses in that column are highlighted. 4) Highlight the entire box that appears below. 10) Right-click on the highlighted column and choose Copy. 5) Right-click on the highlighted text and choose Copy. 11) Open your email. 6) Open Microsoft Excel. 12) Click into the Bcc: box and hit Ctrl and V on your keyboard or right-click in the box and choose Paste. 7) Right-click in the first cell on the left and choose Paste. Playing the Game on TV+ or Digital Signage: Rules of the Game Residents must watch Touchtown TV+ or Digital Signage each day to view the famous face of the day. They should write the name of each person they recognize, as well as the date on the Famous Faces Resident Handout or on a blank piece of paper (if they do not use the handout, they should include the date the slide aired as well as the answer). Completed handouts should be submitted to you. The resident who names the most famous faces correctly wins! Playing the Game Post one or two famous faces per day as an Announcement. Creating an Announcement slide: 1) Click on Add and then Announcement. 2) Enter a title, for example: “Name this Famous Face,” “Famous Faces Name Game,” “Movie Star Name Game.” 3) Schedule the Announcement to run for one day. 4) Choose to either design the slide manually or let Touchtown SmartLayout design the slide. If you choose Touchtown SmartLayout, click on Edit Current Layout after saving the announcement in order to open the Touchtown Editor. 5) Select the Click here to insert and image into the editor link (bottom left). (If you’re using the new Touchtown Editor, click on the Add an Image from the Gallery icon). 6) Click on the Touchtown Kits folder and then select the 40sMovieStars folder. Click on an image to add it to the slide canvas. Resize the image as desired. Make any additional changes and then save. 7) Repeat with additional famous faces. 8) Keep track of the movie stars you’ve already added by writing (on this page) today’s date next to the name of the famous actor or actress you’ve added to Touchtown. How to Play: Post one or several famous faces on a different Touchtown media each day. Use the instructions above to add the photos to the Photo Gallery, forums, E-mail, TV+, and Digital Signage. Final Event (Optional) 1. Hold the Final Event 2. Determine and reward winners. 3. Add an Announcement to Touchtown Web Portal, TV+, and / or Digital Signage that showcases the Famous Faces Name Game winner(s). You can also announce the winner via email or the forums. If you have a photo of the winner, ask their permission to post it in the Photo Gallery with “Famous Faces Name Game Winner” in the Title.
