Type of Attachment(s) (Visio, Word, txt, .yang, etc.) File Name of Attachment(s) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: The majority of DOCSIS 3.1 PNM functions are already "naturally" supported by the R-PHY data plane protocols. There are however two functions, which are distributed in nature and require additional control plane instrumentation for exchange of data between the CCAP Core and the RPD. These are Downstream Symbol Capture and Upstream Histogram. This EC introduces the specification text describing Downstream Symbol Capture and Upstream Histogram functions in the R-PHY architecture. A separate EC will provide TLV encoding of GCP attributes referred to in this EC. This EC was prepared primarily by Shaun Yu.
