Type of Attachment(s) (Visio, Word, txt, .yang, etc.) File Name of Attachment(s) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM: Clarifications to the ODS messaging for the following: Fragmenting top-level TLVs means there will be a single ODS-RSP with multiple fragments vs. several ODSRSP messages with different vector portions per message. The ODS messaging structure was updated for fragmenting top-level TLVs, but section 7.9 was not updated for this and needs to be. One of the original purposes of ODS was to help the CMTS with downstream profile selection for a CM. Since that original concept, OPT was developed to actually test out prospective profiles. ODS is no longer needed for CMs prior to registration. The CMTS will assign new CMs to profile A at registration and add other profiles after testing with OPT. This Engineering Change removes support of ODS for a CM prior to registration allowing the CM to be on-line quicker and avoid interaction problems between ODS and registration.
