It is now a sprawling campus of 110 acres, green with mango trees in the fast developing Port city of Kakinada. Kakinada has a rich political literacy and cultural heritage passed on through generations. This college became a constituent College of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad w.e.f 02-101972. The College has become autonomous in the year 2001. On 20th August, 2008 it became a constituent College for the newly established JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY KAKINADA. The introduction of multicore chips into the computing market has created a revolution in the software industry. The benefits of multicore chips include increase in hardware as well as software performance. Over the past two years, every major microprocessor manufacturer has introduced processor chips with multiple cores, with dual and quad core processors for desktop and laptops, and over a hundred cores available in some Graphics Processing Units. The expectation is that the number of cores per chip wills roughly double every two years while processor clock speeds will remain relatively flat. This makes parallel programming a concern for the entire computing industry. About the Department The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University College of Engineering Kakinada is formally established in 1989, has the reputation of being the best Computer Science Department in the State. The Department has modern laboratories with state of art software to serve the teaching and research needs of the students and faculty of the Department. The Department records high pass percentile of almost 100% consistently over the years. Every year more than 90% of the B.Tech students are placed into Multi National Companies like TCS, UnitedOnline, Honeywell, Wipro, CTC etc. The Department produced 14 Ph.Ds since 2006. The faculty produced of almost 270 National/International research papers The Computer Science Engineering Department aims at providing accessible and relevant programs that are directly applicable to the dynamic environment in which our students will work, live and contribute. To produce high profile future computer experts, endowed with high quality knowledge of automation and other allied sciences, sufficiently capable of proving their professional mettle in the present-day competitive world with confidence. GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) – to do general purpose scientific and engineering computing across a range of platforms. GPU accelerated applications run the sequential part of their workload on the CPU which is optimized for single – threaded performance, while accelerating parallel processing on the GPU. This is called GPU Computing. CUDA is a parallel computing platform and programming model invented by NVIDIA. It enables dramatic increases in computing performance by harnessing the power of the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). With millions of CUDA – enabled GPUs sold to date, software developers, scientists and researchers are finding broad – ranging uses for GPU computing with CUDA. Resource Persons Experts from NVIDIA Eligibility The workshop is open to P.G. students (M.Tech / M.E) & Ph.D Scholars (with research areas on Multicore, High Performance Computing, Image Processing, Parallel & Distributed Computing) from the institutions recognized/approved by AICTE, Faculty from Academic Institutes, Engineers from industry and other Organizations.
