Vanderbilt University Vanderbilt University seeks a highly experienced professional developer with school leadership expertise and experience in school improvement and principal leadership training and development. The successful candidate will have outstanding initiative and exceptional interpersonal skills to serve as the Director of School Leadership Professional Development for our work with leadership teams and aspiring school leaders in Abu Dhabi. The Director is responsible for the successful delivery and execution of a high-quality professional development program for current and aspiring school leaders. The director will work closely with faculty and staff from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University as well as staff at the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to develop and deliver impactful professional development aligned to ADEC’s New School Model and Professional Leadership Standards. The director will oversee all in-country aspects of program design and implementation; develop, supervise, and support in-country leadership coaches; and develop and monitor performance tasks. In addition to the intensive school year based work in Abu Dhabi, there is possible summer teaching opportunities in the Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations, Peabody College in leadership development programs. Job Expectations o Lead a comprehensive PD program for current and aspiring school leaders o Develop appropriate curriculum and training materials o Present and facilitate PD sessions for Arabic school leaders o Manage implementation and strategic aspects of the professional development program o Provide leadership oversight and ongoing development to leadership coaches incountry o Review, evaluate and enhance all deliverables across the program o Develop ongoing performance tasks and monitor program goals for individual participants o Develop, implement, and maintain sound interpersonal and cultural practices across all aspects of the program o Develop, implement and assess strategic objectives for the program that are aligned with participant needs and ADEC’s strategic initiatives o Effectively communicate with all project staff, Vanderbilt University and ADEC o Promote our work and impact through involvement in pertinent social and cultural events o Understand the instructional and social implications of programmatic and pedagogical decisions and guide our thinking towards optimal in-country operation Experience/Qualifications o Minimum of 10 years professional experience in education leadership, including successful design and execution of similar programs with a strong track record of leading and managing teams to achieve results in international settings o Earned Doctorate o Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills o Demonstrated expertise in training, developing and coaching school leaders o Confirmed capacity to work effectively and efficiently within the UAE cultural context o Evidence of improving personnel competency and programmatic impacts o Arabic language knowledge is not required, but is an asset Applications Applications will be considered until April 20th, or until the position is filled.
