Leadership Coach for Principals and Vice Principals in Abu Dhabi Vanderbilt University seeks two highly experienced professionals to serve as a leadership coaches for school leadership teams in Abu Dhabi. Each coach will work closely with Vanderbilt University and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to develop and deliver a program of support (via group learning sessions and school-based coaching) that is aligned with ADEC’s New School Model and Professional Leadership Standards. Each leadership coach will contribute to monthly group meetings and provide one-on-one assistance to approximately 6 school-based leadership teams. Job Expectations Develop an effective coaching relationship with principals and vice principals (with varying proficiencies in English) Implement research-based coaching processes Enhance the connection between instructional leadership & improved student outcomes Improve the impact of leadership on instructional practice Provide assistance to principals and vice principals to develop effective leadership skills Encourage access and participation of all school members to a learning community Collaboratively design and an implement an individualized growth and assistance plan with principals and vice principals around models of effective leadership Help leaders identify, understand and interpret sources of data Guide identification of strategic issues and develop strategic work plans Conduct and participate in collaborative group sessions with other leadership coaches Provide and discuss relevant research for improved leadership techniques Work with our team to develop networks for principals to share successes and challenges Meet with leaders individually to set goals and measure progress on a weekly basis Meet with assigned cohort to discuss common challenges & best practices weekly Contribute to leading and facilitating PD session for leadership teams in our schools Experience/Qualifications At least 5 years of experience as a successful school leader Experience serving as a mentor / coach for school leaders Experience leading professional development sessions for leaders and teachers Experience working in a dual language / international environment Strong communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated knowledge of leadership theory and data-based decision making Evidence of improving learning outcomes by developing faculty Duration and Compensation This is a one-year position, beginning September 1, 2013, with possible extension Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and will be in the range of: $90,000 to $ 115,000 with housing allowance provided additionally Next Steps To apply for the position, please send CV and cover letter discussing interest and experience to Vanderbilt’s Abu Dhabi Leadership Development Director Patrick.schuermann@vanderbilt.edu
