Instructional Leadership Coach / Professional Development Facilitator: Abu Dhabi
Vanderbilt University seeks highly experienced professionals to serve as leadership
coaches and professional development facilitators for aspiring leaders, VPs and
leadership teams schools in Abu Dhabi. Each coach/PD facilitator will work with
Vanderbilt University and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to develop and
deliver services aligned to ADEC’s New School Model and Professional Leadership
Standards. Each coach/PD facilitator will contribute to bi-monthly group meetings and
provide one-on-one assistance and support up to 6 program participants and their
schools.
Job Expectations
o Develop an effective coaching relationship with principals
o Implement research-based coaching processes
o Enhance the connection between instructional leadership & improved student
outcomes
o improve the impact of leadership on instructional practice
o Provide assistance for principals in developing effective instructional leadership skills
o Increase access and participation of all school members to a learning community
o Collaboratively design and an implement an individualized growth and assistance plan
with principal around models of effective leadership
o Help principals identify, understand and interpret sources of data
o Guide identification of strategic issues and develop strategic work plans
o Conduct and participate in collaborative group sessions with other coaches
o Provide and discuss relevant research for improved leadership techniques
o Work with other coaches to develop networks for principals to systematically share
successes and challenges
o Meet with principals individually to set goals and measure progress on a weekly basis
o Meet with assigned principal cohort to discuss common challenges & best practices
weekly
o Contribute to leading and facilitating all PD session for leadership teams in schools
Experience/Qualifications
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills
o Demonstrated knowledge of leadership theory and data -based decision making
o Evidence of improving teaching and learning through developing faculty and staff
o Possess a strong understanding of ADEC’s New School Reform Model and
Instructional Leadership Standards and practices
o At least five years experience as a successful school leader
o Prior coaching and mentoring experience
o Advanced degree
The successful candidate will be employed directly by the Abu Dhabi Educational
Council and will live and work full time in the UAE.
