1) Little Sally is thinking of two numbers. If the 1st number minus the second number is 3 and the sum of 4
times the second number and 10 times the 1st number is 51, what is the smaller of the two numbers?
2) April has 15 coins in her pocket. If she only has dimes and quarters and the total value of her change is
$3.00, how many of each coin must she have?
3) Kear and Tricia work in a clothing store where they are paid a certain amount of money for selling certain
items of clothing. Kear earns $47 for selling 3 shirts and a tie, while Tricia earns $107 for selling 7 shirts and 2
ties. How much would Kear earn if he sold 2 shirts and 2 ties?
4) A jar contains only nickels and quarters. If we know there are 20 coins in the jar and that the total amount of
money in the jar is $4.20, how many of each coin is in the jar?
5) Laura placed two orders for jewelry. The first order was for 13 rings and 4 bracelets, and totaled $487. The
second order was for 6 rings and 2 bracelets, and totaled $232. What is the total cost for one bracelet and one
ring?
6) Kerri is taking money out of her piggy bank. She notices that she only has $1.60 made up of nickels and
dimes. If she has a total of 20 coins, how much money does she have in nickels?
7) Billy asks a bank teller to cash his $390 check using only $20 and $50 bills. If the teller gave him a total of
15 bills, how much money in $50 bills did he receive back?

were sold?
3) Tom is taking a History test that has 20 questions. The test consists of True/False questions worth 4 points
each and multiple choice questions worth 11 points each. If the test is worth 100 points, how many multiple
choice questions are on the test?
