Yes – we could either donate the funds or sponsor it in two smaller classrooms that are high use classrooms? We can prove that the students love and use them (pilot classroom). o Find out the most popular rooms – strategic with multiple rooms that people would use them. - Electrical in classrooms – they are trying but it still isn’t working. Microwaves – STILL an issue. We need to investigate this. - Student spaces: how many people are in favor of having badges (school specific) to get them into the student spaces? - o Every school gets a student space – it is technically fair but the school of medicine might not get as much space for the relative amount of people – so they get 2 rooms and they are the largest spaces. o Who wants badges for schools?: NOT a lot of people. However, we are NOT having any more discussions about where school spaces are – they already know where things are going – there is no more discussions about where things are – that is student counsel issue Open meetings vs closed meetings: Dr. Jarvis, school of pharm o We want to know how much is it being talked about that more Associate Deans should come to senate? Would more of them come here? A number of those positions are open on campus – she doesn’t know if people want to come to the meeting or not, it is mostly an interest level based thing. o Our meetings are open now to all students – but if lots of faculty and staff start coming then senators might not feel comfortable talking about stuff. Could we have a closed meeting? NO, our constitution says it has to be open, so we would have to change the constitution. You could always talk to the eboard if there are issues. NO, if they want national recognition they first must be recognized on campus. - How many years? Almost a full year - Motion to approve: approved. Karl Davis - Assistant director of financial aid - Federal government requires that each school gets written/electric consent for the school to use tuition money to pay for fees - each student has to do that before spring – look for email within a week – make election so you don’t have issues with spring dispersements. - Federal Perkins loan ended October 1st – there is still some legislation to get it back (interest free). Any student who has received this loan is still eligible to receive it if they had it prior to July 15, 2015, but if you have never received it, then you will no longer be able to receive the loan. The schools are trying to get it back, as it is one of the few that is subsidized and has no interest, but currently it has ended.
