
Building Rural Capital: How are regional associations and funders working to promote community development
philanthropy in rural areas? What can regional associations do to promote this rural engagement and support
community foundations and other grantmakers who are working to establish community endowments? Join the
roundtable to share your rural experiences and hear about work being done by the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship.

D5: Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Please join Kelly Brown, Director of D5, to hear about D5’s work,
progress, and plans, and the resources that are available to support regional associations and their members to increase
their impact by addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy.

The New LearnPhilanthropy: Come learn about the revamped LearnPhilanthropy, an online marketplace for
grantmaker learning that can help regional associations and their members meet a wide variety of learning needs. We
will talk about how LP can be useful, brainstorm new partnerships, and get your ideas for how to improve LP in the
future.

How RAs Use Philanthropy Consultants for Greater Service, Expanded Membership, and Enhance Quality:
The Forum is in formal partnership with the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers (NNCG) to integrate the
NNCG Directory of Philanthropy Consultants on its member RA websites. NCG and PNY are the pilot sites and are
working to maximize this relationship for higher quality consulting to their member grantmakers, new RA membership
categories, and harnessing consultant talents in RA programming and services. How is this partnership working? Come
see a demonstration of the NNCG Directory and find out how individual RAs can benefit from this partnership with the
Forum!

Interactive Transparency & Evaluation Tool for Your Members: Come discuss a new, interactive tool that helps
your foundation members approach transparency, internal evaluation, strategy, and their interactions with grantees!
The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) launched Philamplify, a new project that pairs
comprehensive assessments of foundations conducted by experts with an interactive website that provides a safe space
for all of us to honestly and openly share constructive feedback, experiences, thoughts, and data.

Partnering Hits, Misses and Opportunities: Exponent Philanthropy (formerly the Association of Small Foundations)
and regional associations have a long history of partnering. In this frank conversation, we’ll highlight partnership
successes and failures, talk about the value we see in working together, and brainstorm opportunities for future joint
ventures.

Galvanizing Change: Over the past year, GEO engaged in a process to help determine what priorities should drive its
strategy for the next several years. After holding conversations with board members, GEO members, nonprofit leaders
and colleague organizations, it was clear that operating in a more networked way would be critical to their success.
Accordingly, GEO hopes to deepen partnerships with peer organizations, especially regional associations, as a way to
galvanize change in our field. Join this roundtable discussion to hear about where GEO landed in this process and share
where you see areas of mutual priority and intersection.

Minding the Ps and Ts: Supporting Successful Funder Affinity Groups and Collaborations: There is increasing
interest in collaboration to ignite and achieve greater social impact. Yet establishing and maintaining successful
collaborations between funders (not to mention cross-sectoral collaborations) is challenging. This roundtable, led by
Jennifer James (Harder+Company Community Research, consultant to SDG) and Nancy Jamison of SDG, will invite
discussion of the successes, challenges, and tools in developing successful funder affinity groups and collaboration.


What’s Next for Community Philanthropy Toolkit: Gabriel Kasper of the Monitor Institute will lead a discussion
about the What’s Next for Community Philanthropy toolkit, a new do-it-yourself resource that regional associations
can offer to community foundations and other place-based funders in their areas to help the organizations challenge
old assumptions, understand the full range of possibilities for their work, and generate creative new approaches and
models for the future.

Data Collection and Visualization: The Forum and the Foundation Center have embarked on an ambitious data
partnership to improve the quality and effectiveness of grantmaking nationwide. Come learn about the exciting
opportunities for Regionals to participate and benefit from a comprehensive Forum-wide system for data collection,
sharing and visualization.

Using Mobile Data to Track Your Impact: LiveGoode will explore how you can use their free mobile interface to
track the gifts of time, treasure and talent with those you fund. This data can then be combined across all of your
non-profit partners to obtain information on your sector wide giving. We will explore how this data can be used in
marketing materials for both the funding agency and the funded organization to increase community recognition of
both your social impact and that of those you fund.
