Dear Friends,
With Thanksgiving not far away, one can almost smell
the turkey cooking. Thanksgiving gives us opportunity
to reflect on those things for which we are truly thankful.
Let us take some time this month to give thanks for all
those heroes that have influenced our own faith.
Someone once said “Those who have lived well in their
own time have lived well for all time.” We may think of
people like Moses, Abraham, Sarah, and Mary, but there
are other models of faith over the space of time that have
guided us as well. People like Mother Teresa, Harriet
Tubman, Martin Luther King, Jr., preacher and Civil
Rights leader, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a theologian and
martyr in opposition to Nazism. The role models of days
past point the way to God. Their lives weren’t perfect,
for they faced tensions and struggles like all of us. Their
lives are a testament to the fact that we are all called to
put our faith into action, sometimes in bold and
unexpected, courageous ways.
This Thanksgiving, as we pause to give thanks, let us
remember the heroes who have influenced our faith as we
journey toward the One who calls us to follow.
Thanksgiving Blessings,
Pastor Linda

O Pioneers!, Willa Cather's second novel, tells the story
of an immigrant family's struggle to save their Nebraska
farm. Cather's placement of a strong and capable woman
at the center of the story, her realistic depiction of life on
the midwestern prairie, and her vivid portrayal of the
immigrant experience at the turn of the century make O
Pioneers! a true American classic.

7:00PM of O Pioneers by Willa Cathers.
