NURSERY (INFANT AND TODDLER CARE) PROGRAM

NewCity believes that the nurture of a child begins at birth. As a result, the Nursery program provides a structured

“curriculum” that is not a simply a child care or baby-sitting program that is utilized while adults worship. An audiovisual feed of the worship service is provided in the classroom in order to directly expose the children to the components of the worship service. Parents are encouraged to worship with their children in the designated

Family Room, but have the option of dropping off their infants and toddlers ages 0-2 years in the Nursery classroom. The Nursery classroom will be available for drop-off prior to the beginning of service.

In addition, children are able to learn about the Gospel and participate in Gospel-centered activities through the exploration of each of the following Learning Centers:

Learning Centers

Story Center- Every week, stories from The Jesus Storybook Bible, and other Gospel material is read aloud by a teacher, followed by the reading and reciting of catechisms and text from the

Bible.

Art Center- Children are encouraged to color pictures related to Bible stories, along with participating in puzzles, flashcards, and other age-appropriate arts and crafts activities.

Music Center- Musical toys and songs are available for children to explore and use during the corporate singing of hymns. Songs are also led by teachers for children to join in.

Each class will conclude with a corporate prayer and receiving of the blessing.

1 A 2 year old child will be placed either in the Nursery or Preschool program at the discretion and preference of the parents.

Biblical Concepts

Nursery students learn that:

God is a name

God is a person

God loves me

PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM

Similar to the Nursery program, the Pre-School program is designed to provide a stimulating and exciting environment for children ages 2-4 years. Pre-School aged children and up are expected to join their parents in worship until they are dismissed to Sunday School. If a child is unable to participate in the main service, parents will be encouraged to utilize the Family Room. The Pre-School classroom is available for drop-off during the time of announcements (following the time of singing), in which the Pre-School and Elementary children are dismissed to a children’s sermon and time of Bible-study. The children’s sermon is prepared for the Pre-School and Elementary students and is given by a member of the pastoral staff.

Following the children’s sermon, the Pre-School program is designed to provide a Sunday School curriculum that consists of:

Corporate prayer

Memorization of catechisms

Short Bible-study lesson (based on the Great Commission Publications curriculum)

Short activity (if time allows)

Outdoor Activities

Weather and time permitting, Pre-School children are scheduled to play outdoors for up to ten minutes as their activity with close adult supervision. Parental consent is to be provided for each child.

Biblical Concepts

Pre-School students learn that:

God loves people

God wants people to love Him

God wants people to love and help each other

God hears people talk to Him

God wants people to thank Him

EARLY ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

Elementary-aged children are also expected to join their parents in the worship until they are dismissed to Sunday

School. If a child is unable to participate in the main service, parents will be encouraged to utilize the Family

Room. The Early Elementary classroom is available for drop-off during the time of announcements (following the time of singing), in which the Pre-School and Elementary children are dismissed to a children’s sermon and time of

Bible-study. The children’s sermon is prepared for the Pre-School and Elementary students and is given by a member of the pastoral staff.

Following the children’s sermon, the Early Elementary program is designed to provide a Sunday School curriculum that consists of:

Corporate prayer
