Bus Transportation Eligibility for transportation is 1 mile for elementary students. Parents are now being notified by automatic phone calls when yellow buses are 15 or minutes behind schedule. Please make sure CPS has your correct phone numbers by keeping the School office updated, or you may list up to 3 phone numbers (home, work & cell) in PowerSchool. General Riding a school bus is a privilege and requires team work on the part of the students, parents, teachers, bus drivers, and administration. This privilege can be removed at any time for disruptive and unsatisfactory conduct. The Board of Education and the bus contractors have established the following consequences for infractions: 1st Offense Mailed to parent 2nd Offense Mailed to parent 3rd Offense Bus riding privileges suspended for three (3) school days 4th Offense Bus riding privileges suspended for five (5) school days 5th Offense Bus riding privileges suspended for ten (10) school days 6th Offense Parent conference to determine disciplinary action. Possible bus suspension for the remainder of the year. To preserve the safety and welfare of the pupil and other, the contractor may make a formal request to the Principal to deny bus transportation privileges on the first or second misconduct report. Video cameras are present on each bus and the videos can be reviewed by the administration. Street Crossing Safety Students must cross the street at the crosswalks. If you bring your child or pick him/her up, do not cross between parked cars or outside the crosswalk. This sends a message that it is okay to cross anywhere. Do not call your child to cross in the street as other students will see this and do likewise. Parents, please set a good, safe and legal example.
