Spelling Homework:
1. Type each word 3 times. Remember to print and turn in with homework.
2. For any word which has an* asterisk:
A. type the part of speech
B. type a short definition or synonym
C. use the word in a sentence which shows that you understand the meaning of the word
3. Practice spelling each word to study for the weekly spelling quiz on Monday. Make sure you do
some practice quizzes in order to prepare. You can use Spelling City( www.spelling city.com) if
you choose
Vocabulary Homework:
1. Create a drawing which represents what the word means. Stick figures are fine- you are being
assessed on your understanding of the word and quality of thinking, not on your artistic ability.
2. Write at least one sentence for each vocabulary word which includes the vocabulary word.
A. S= One basic sentence which shows you know the meaning of the word.
B. S+= One 5th or 6th grade quality sentence with correct spelling & punctuation which shows
you know the meaning of the word.
C. E= Two sentences per word. Sentences must be high quality and show that you know the
meaning of the word.
D. E+= Two sentences per word. Sentences must be high quality and show that you know the
meaning of the word. Sentences must have no grammatical or spelling errors.
3. Study the spelling and definition of each vocabulary word as well as the greek/latin root. You
will be quizzed each Monday on the spelling and meaning of each word.
