Willie L. Carter has 30+ years of operations experience in various positions—Research Chemist, Plant Manager, Director of
Operations, Director of Quality and Vice President of Quality and Operations Support. He is an American Society of Quality
(ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality and Organizational Excellence, a Certified ISO 9000 Lead Assessor, Certified Lean Sensei
and has a certificate in process mapping/redesign from Motorola University. As an adjunct faculty member at Roosevelt
University he teaches Statistics, and Executive Leadership at the graduate level.
Mr. Carter currently serves on the board of the Northeastern Illinois Section of ASQ. Mr. Carter has an MBA from Roosevelt
University and a BA in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University. Mr. Carter has generated millions of dollars of waste
related savings for companies by reducing poor quality costs and improving business and manufacturing processes. Some
areas of expertise, Quality Management Systems, Industrial Problem Solving, Process Mapping/Redesign, Advanced Quality
Planning, Statistical Process Control, Integrated Process Management, Lean Enterprise.

to pursue the CMA after she already had her CPA.
She explained that, like most traditional accounting students, she sat for the CPA exam right after

presentations that convinced her to sit for the CMA exam as well: approximately 75% of undergraduate
accounting majors who follow an audit track in a large or regional firm find themselves in a company doing
business or management accounting in two to five years.
"The CPA designation and material is focused on the public accounting track. But what about the skills
needed to work inside the company? That is where the CMA designation and materials is needed," Amy
said.
After four years in public accounting, Amy began teaching financial, management, and advanced
management accounting classes at Western Illinois University. She recalls, "If most of my students were
going to need the skills and knowledge tested on the CMA exam, then I needed to be familiar with this
credential." In 2011, nine years after sitting for the CPA exam, she decided to sit for the CMA exam – and
she went on to win the Certificate of Distinguished Performance using Gleim CMA Review. Now she says
that"[taking the exam] was the best decision of my professional teaching career, as it has lead to so many
opportunities for both myself and my students."
