For a list of options visit: www.career.aysps.gsu.edu/organizations Attend University Career Services orientation and sign up with Panther Career Net Attend “Resume & Cover Letter” workshops October/November Consider searching for and securing your first internship (doesn’t necessarily have to be for course credit); Visit AYS or University Career Services to look through career related books to broaden your career opportunities thinking and to learn more about how to apply for jobs in targeted sectors/industries Complete resume and upload to Panther Career Net Attend career fairs in your local communities to begin networking and searching for internship opportunities. Conduct at least 3-4 informational interviews with professionals in your career field of interest Attend alumni networking events and student and professional organization meetings SPRING SEMESTER – 1st Year Master’s Degree / Junior Year Bachelor’s Degree January/February Update your resume with everything you accomplished in the Fall semester. If you have not done so, join your department Internship/Job Listserv and LinkedIn network Develop, evaluate, and adapt your internship search plan Conduct at least 3-4 informational interviews with professionals in your career field of interest Read through the internship requirements on your department’s website Finalize your summer or Fall Internship March/April Schedule a time to use VIPS - Virtual Interview Practice System for a mock interview (University Career Services Center) Conduct at least 3-4 informational interviews with professionals in your career field of interest Finalize your summer internship (if applicable) FALL SEMESTER – 2nd Year Master’s Degree / Senior Year Bachelor’s Degree August/September Update your resume with everything you accomplished in the Spring and summer If you have not done so already, APPLY FOR MAY GRADUATION! Deadline is usually first week of September! Conduct at least 2-3 informational interviews with AYS alumni or professionals in your areas of interest Conduct at least 3-4 informational interviews with professionals in your career field of interest Develop your job search plan and meet with a career counselor to review it Attend alumni networking events and student and professional organization meetings October/November Visit your academic advisor to make sure you are on track to graduate as planned Conduct at least 3-4 informational interviews with professionals in your career field of interest Attend career fairs in your local communities to begin networking/searching for internship opportunities. Alternative: Finalize graduate school plans and applications, if applicable. This includes personal statements, letters of recommendation, and any other requirements your specific school may want.
