Each winner will receive a photography book and a framed picture of their photograph
HOW TO ENTER
If you are a teen between the ages of 12 and 18, and you have a library card from a Marigold
member library, you are eligible to enter this contest!
“The Epic Shot” will be open from Monday Jul 20 to Friday August 7, 2015
Each participant can submit one (1) photograph to each category
Please label which category your photograph is for
To send in your submission, save it as a JPEG file and attach it to your email. Send it to
teens@marigold.ab.ca
All entries will be posted online over the course of the contest
If you want a copy of your work, please make a copy for yourself before you submit your
artwork, as Marigold does not return submissions.
Artwork that includes copyrighted materials or trademarked logos will be disqualified. If you
include another person’s personal image in your photography, you must inform that person of
your intent to submit the photo and sign the area of the submission form that indicates you
have informed that person of your intent.
The submission of your artwork constitutes your agreement to “The Epic Shot” Terms &
Conditions, so please read them! If you have any questions please contact the Teen Coordinator

“The Epic Shot” TERMS & CONDITIONS
The photography must be your own original creation in its entirety: no borrowing, copying,
tracing, stealing, or copyrighted or trademarked images.
All entries become the property of Marigold Library System and will not be returned. If you
want to keep a copy of your artwork, please make a copy before you submit it. The winning
photographs can and will be used by Marigold Library System in Teen’Zine, the Marigold teen
website, Marigold publications, Marigold article submissions to third party publications and the
Marigold website. Marigold reserves the right to modify submitted photographs as needed, and
to use photographs from more than one entry on the same document. All winners still retain
the rights to use and publish their own artwork.
Entries will be judged by staff members of the Marigold Library System. Entries will be
evaluated based on relevancy, creativity, and originality. The judges’ decisions are final.
Marigold Library System reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, or modify
the Contest if, for any reason, the Contest is not able to be completed as planned. If the Contest
is cancelled for any reason, a Grand Prize winner will be selected from among all entries
received prior to cancellation and a Grand Prize will be awarded. Marigold Library System
reserves the right to decline to publish the Grand Prize winning entry and any Runner-Up
entries.
By submitting photographs, each contestant releases Marigold Library System and its respective
directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability and demands of any kind
arising from or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, responsibility for
property damages, loss of life, or personal injury resulting from or in connection with
participating in the Contest, from or in connection with use or receipt of the prizes, or while
preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to or from any prize-related activity, however
caused. Neither Marigold Library System - nor its member libraries - is responsible for any
damages, taxes, or expenses that winners might incur as a result of this Contest or receipt of
prize. Marigold Library System reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any person
who acts in violation of these Contest Terms & Conditions. Contestants must comply with these
rules, and will be deemed to have received and understood the rules if they participate in the
Summer Art Contest and have signed an entry form.
PRIZES AND PRIZE CONDITIONS:
ELIGIBILITY: This Contest is open to teens with a Marigold library card that are between 12 and
18 years of age when they submit their artwork and entry form to the Contest. Not sure if your
public library is a Marigold library? A list of Marigold member libraries can be found at
www.marigold.ab.ca.
Two (2) winners will be chosen, one from each category.
Each winner will receive a photography book and a framed picture of their photograph.
Prizes may not be exchanged or redeemed for cash, sold, or traded. No prize transfer,
assignment, or substitution by winners is permitted. Marigold reserves the right to substitute a
prize, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Winners will be notified
by email from the Summer Programmer by August 14, 2015. If the programmer is not able to
locate the winner within seven (7) days, the prize may be forfeited, and Marigold reserves the
right to select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.
Winners that have been contacted to claim a prize from their public library may be asked to
provide proof that they are between the ages of 12-18. An entrant is not a winner until the
contestant’s eligibility has been verified. Marigold Library System reserves the right to
terminate the Contest without awarding any prizes if no eligible winners claim the prizes within
the required time. Winners agree to the use of their first names in promotional materials and
websites issued by Marigold Library System without any additional compensation (except
where prohibited). By entering this Contest, winners agree that Marigold Library System has
the right to publicize, by any medium, their names, the fact that winners won, and details about
the contest.
PRIVACY POLICY: Marigold will collect and use information that entrants provide to enter the
Contest to actually conduct the Contest. It may further use the personal information to contact
the potential winners. Marigold Library System will protect contestant’s personal information
under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). As noted under Prizes
and Prize Conditions, Marigold may publish contestant’s first names, the fact that winners won,
and details about the contest. Marigold will be required to share winner’s names and contact
information with the contestant’s public library in order to deliver any prize. In turn, each
Marigold Library System member public library promoting and participating in the Poster Art
Contest is responsible for protecting contestant’s personal information.
