Collinsville Librarian, Susan Babbitt, is proud to introduce her classmate, Marilyn
Talley Rains, to Collinsville. Rains has just published her first children’s book called Looks Like You Fed
Your Face With Your Feet!
“It is a silly book of rhyme that hopefully will be instructive in basic good manners for young children
ages 3-7,” Rains said. “This by no means covers all area of mannerly efforts,” she said, “but hits some of
the high spots in basic, mannerly living.”
Rains wrote the book as her children and their friends were growing up. The book is dedicated to her
sons, her niece and nephew and her grandchildren.
Chic’ & Tiques is featuring Looks Like You Fed Your Face With Your Feet! at a book signing Saturday,
August 27 from 9:00 –11:00 a.m. Rains said she looks forward helping raise funds for the no kill rescue,
and “meeting some new little friends.” Paperback. $8…$1 from each sale donated to “TAR”.
In June Rains was honored at a publishing party in Jenks to launch her publication. There she gathered
the children outside on the lawn, asked them if they could provide some examples of good manners
which, she said, “proved to be entertaining,” and then read the book aloud for the first time to her young
audience.
Rains graduated from Ponca City High School in 1966 and remembers English and Journalism as her
favorite classes. She went on to major in Journalism at NOC where she was co-editor of The Maverick in
1967. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Journalism Public Relations from the University of
Oklahoma and worked in that field for more than 20 years before becoming a pharmaceutical and health
care marketing representative. She lives in Jenks and is the mother to two adult sons, Matthew of Jenks
and Brad of Los Angeles, and two grandchildren Coleman and Katie.
All day 8-27-11 Chic’ & Tiques will host a used book sale for Toothpick Animal Rescue. There will be
many single copies and sets of books by popular authors, western paperbacks, arts and crafts books,
children’s books, and more. Explore the intriguing shop of quality antiques as you browse for books.
Each person who stops by to meet Marilyn will receive a 10% off coupon to Scoops and Grinds
located at the corner of 11th and Main. The Tri County Fair is in town so plan to spend the day in
Collinsville.
Will be a great day in the neighborhood!
