The Tropical Rain forest biome is located in Central and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia. It is found near most of the equatorial areas. The temperatures are hotter inside the forest than outside of it. Rain comes in both seasons of spring and fall. There are however a few dry Months. The dry months are when less than 100 cubic inches of rain fall. Climate: The dry season lasts from July to November with temperatures between 26 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius. The wet season lasts from December to June with temperatures ranging from 23 degrees to 30 degrees Celsius. There isn’t an exact month where the most rain falls since it rains about 4 inches a day on average. Plants Bromeliaceae Bromeliads. Pitcher Plant Nepenthes rafflesiana. The pitcherplantcan grow up to be 30 feet tall and may have pitchers 12 inches in length which usally has digested insects. The pitcher plant also eats small mammals and reptiles that try to steal insects from inside it. Strangler Fig, Ficus barbata, Orchids, Orchidaceae Epiphytes, Tillandsia fasciculata Lianas, Linnaeus Toucan, Ramphastidae Paddle Fish, Polyodontidae Okapia, Okapia johnstoni Deer, Cervidae Caiman Crocodilus, Spectacled caiman An example of a symbiotic relations ship is mutualism between Leaf Cutter Ants and Fungus. The Leaf Cutter Ants protect the fungus and feed it small leaves in return the ants put their larvae in there which protects the larvae and feeds them. Another symbiotic relationship is parasitism between the trees and the Strangler Fig. The Strangler Fig starts out by growing on a branch after a while it grows down and up the tree while also twisting around it. After a period of time the strangler fig envelopes the whole tree and strangles it because it can’t get any sunlight. http://www2.needham.k12.ma.us/nhs/cur/Bio96_97/P3/TropicalRF/cgdb3.html http://lo2fosho.blogspot.com/2011/01/symbiotic-relationships-in-tropical.html http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/rnfrst_climate_page.htm http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/rainforest/Where.shtml http://images.nationalgeographic.com/wpf/media-live/photos/000/063/cache/map-worldrainforest_6367_600x450.jpg http://www.srl.caltech.edu/personnel/krubal/rainforest/Edit560s6/www/images/plants/neobu http://www.nikiwilson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/pitcher-plant.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/46/Ficus_watkinsiana_on_Syzygium_hemila mpra-Iluka.jpg/210px-Ficus_watkinsiana_on_Syzygium_hemilampra-Iluka.jpg http://www.outdooralabama.com/fishing/images/PaddleFish4001.jpg http://img2.hebus.com/hebus_2005/07/17/preview/050717112637_80.jpg http://wwwdelivery.superstock.com/WI/223/4201/PreviewComp/SuperStock_4201-54909.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b6/Okapia_johnstoni_-Marwell_Wildlife http://gb.fotolibra.com/images/larger-thumbnails/634664-dead-mens-fingers.jpeg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nL3uVVgBK5E/UIVLxjLs-rI/AAAAAAAAA0o/Pz7ynJa0W7o/s1600/ http://fernridgefarms.com/images/LadyFern.jpg http://www.arborday.org/trees/graphics/trees/162/162_lg_1.jpg Toucan Caiman Crocodilus Paddle Fish Dead Man Fingers Zabalius albifasciatus Deer Lily Okapia
