Medicine of Idaho, P.A.
Gail Eberharter, MD
Dear friends and patients,
In This Issue
Respectful Confrontation Class
It's hard to believe that August is upon us already. However, there is
still plenty of summer weather and fun to be had with family, friends and
nature. We hope you have a great month enjoying the summer
festivities.
Recently, a survey was sent to patients requesting your feedback on
potential classes for our new clinic classroom. We would greatly
appreciate your inputs and comments on how best this clinic can serve
you. Please submit your responses back by Monday, August 15th.
We are anticipating moving to our new clinic located at the corner of
36th Street and Hill Road in late September or early October. Prior
to the move, we anticipate shutting the clinic down for a few days. We
will keep you updated on the specific dates of our move.
As a reminder there is no Allergen Support Group for the month of
August. We will resume in September.

Report from the Institute of Functional Medicine Conference
By Gail Eberharter M.D.
Kathy Bowen, Jolyn Seibert and I just returned from a very exciting Functional
Medicine conference in Chicago. The topic was hormones including thyroid, adrenal,
male and female hormones. Although this was a huge area of information it was made
very enjoyable by the addition of stress reduction experiences. We reviewed the current
research on hormone use and expanded our knowledge of using nutrition, lifestyle
change and supplements to minimize amounts of hormones when they are needed. The
latest recommendations for lab testing and dosing of hormones was discussed. We each
made notes with information for individual patients so you may be hearing from us with
suggestions. It is always wonderful to talk with other Functional Medicine practitioners
from around the country. comparing notes and "what works" with each other is
invaluable.
We are especially excited about lectures we attended about Heart Math. We
experienced use of a simple biofeedback tool to significantly lower stress hormone
levels, improve clarity of thought and decrease risk of cardiovascular disease and other
chronic illness. we will be starting some classes to teach these techniques and share how
they work as soon as we move to our new office.
New Supplements in the Office
By Kathy Bowen, F.N.P.
We have a new powder formulation with GABA called RelaxMax. This is a blend of
ingredients known to regulate catecholamines and up-regulate the inhibitory
neurotransmitter GABA. The formula aims to promote a calm, relaxed physiological
and emotional state. Good for adrenal fatigue and to promote restful sleep. Contains
Magnesium, Inositol, L-Taurine, GABA, and L-Theanine. This product may be
taken 1-4 times a day.
ProbioMax Plus DF is our newest probiotic. Proprietary blend of beneficial probiotic
strains of bacteria, as well as the non-pathogenic yeast Saccharomyces boulardii,
immunoglobulins, and the prebiotic arabinogalactan, in addition to IgG 2000 which is an
immunoglobulin concentrate providing immune complexes which enhance gut
healing. This is the ideal probiotic for individuals with a variety of gut related issues
that cause inflammation and discomfort. You may take one to three times a day with
meals.
We are offering some new topical formulations from the Xymogen company. These
topicals are equivalent to approximately 10X the oral dose due to improved absorption
by the bypass of the stomach and gut as well as first pass liver detoxification.
GABA/L-Theanine: This has been found to be very effective in improving
relaxation, treating anxiety, depression, and panic attacks, and promotes restful
sleep. It may help to decrease neuropathic pain in diseases such as diabetic
neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia resulting from herpes virus infections. Most
effective when applied to the temples. May also be applied to the soles of the feet for
more rapid systemic circulation. The pores of the feet are the largest of anywhere in
the body and the product gets into the circulatory system very quickly.
Glutathione topical: This product is used for oxidative stress, detoxification,
autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases. Apply directly over the liver from
right below the sternum over to the right side. For Glutathione detoxing of the brain,
apply to the temples. 5 pumps is considered a normal dose. For any type of
detoxification program, glutathione is very helpful. This is a good alternative to the oral
liposomal glutathione.
