Meeting Minutes – January 8, 2015
Attendees: Pam Sultzaberger, Brenda Waleff, Julie Watson, Brenda Blackburn-Foster, Julie Halbert,
Edee Herigan, Lara Stammel, Janice Mountain; Students: Bree Sultzaberger, Dustin Waleff; Principal:
Ken Miller
Call to Order/Welcome: Brenda Waleff, President, opened the meeting at 7:03pm.
Secretary’s Report: The November meeting minutes were reviewed. A motion to approve was made by
Janice Mountain. It was seconded by Bree Sultzaberger, motion was approved. No correspondence.
Treasurer’s Report: Monies for Save a Round books deposited. No other changes.
Membership: Pam Sultzaberger stated that memberships are down. Mr. Miller was asked to send a
global connect or e-mail with a link to membership registration. It was suggested forms be handed out
at course selection nights with a spoken reminder that beginning next year students need to be PTSO
members for 2 years to apply for the PTSO scholarships. Julie Halbert donated a $36 gift card to Barnes
& Noble for a teacher raffle which was won by Dennis Smith – Astronomy teacher.
President’s Report: No report.
Staff Appreciation: Erika Frank sent word students were very helpful in monitoring the teachers’ lounge
and hopes they will help with the next staff appreciation. The next appreciation will be Sweets and
Treats on February 11th. The final teacher appreciation day may be a Taco Day as this was well received
last year.
Staff Gift: Bree Sultzaberger held a drawing and Tracie Wiley (English) won a $10 Sheetz gift card.
Hospitality: No report.
PAC Advisory Committee & School Board: Julie Halbert stated Dr. Johnson presented the “PA School
Performance Profile” power point to provide further understanding of the school performance profiles.
Anyone interested in viewing the power point can do so by going to cdschools.org. It is under the
Parent’s link, Parent Advisory Committee, Minutes and then November, 2014. The next meeting is
January 29th. What impacts student’s learning is a very important issue. CDHS plans to offer more AP and
Honors courses without teacher recommendation.
Scholarship: Janice Mountain stated the high school will be sending letters to scholarship groups
around January 20th regarding scholarship applications. The deadline to apply will be April 8th. Janice will
pick up applications April 10th. They will be reviewed and names submitted April 21st. There will be an
application link on the website and some in the guidance office. In March scholarship amounts will be
discussed.
Wish List: Edie Herigan stated Mrs. Wenzler has enough books. The nurse has requested water, ginger
ale, mints, non-peanut snacks, and Gatorade. Please remind the staff that they may make requests.

Website: Brenda Waleff stated the website is up to date.
Fundraising: Linda Topp had no report. Save-Around-Books all sold out.
New Business: A suggestion was made to contact the music department to explore a way to have a
fund raiser during concerts or Tri-M.
Old Business: Mr. Miller is still reviewing the talent show proposal. Janice stated the Junior
Achievement workshop was a great program. Stations encompassed Financial Literacy, budgeting, loans,
and college. Bree found it very informational. In May the 9th grade will attend STEM, a science based
workshop.
Principal’s Report: Mr. Miller stated midterms are next week. Farm Show Friday is January 16th, students
only need to provide a parent note for an excused absence. January 16th is also the end of the 2nd
marking period. Students taking the keystone tests will not take midterms or finals. The Criminal Justice
Club is highly attended and is a great asset to the school. BYOD is working in the school.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:57pm. The next PTSO meeting will be held on February 12th, 2015 at
7:00pm in the conference room across from the library (enter through the main entrance).
