Combined Cadet Force – School Staff Instructor
Part Time – 4 days per week split equally between two Units
Salary: £23,000 per annum pro rata

permanent post with the 4 days being split equally between the Darlington School of
Mathematics and Science and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. A separate contract of
employment will be given by each establishment.

The School Staff Instructor (SSI) will have an important role in establishing the Combined
Cadet Force at the School and College, offering learning and leadership development
opportunities to the students.
The role is central to the smooth and efficient running and development of the leadership
potential of Cadets.
It is essential that you have previous military experience, having held the Senior NCO rank of
full Corporal or above, that you are Range qualified and hold relevant outdoor education
qualifications.

Job Description
Job Title:
School Staff Instructor
Purpose:
The School Staff Instructor (SSI) will have a formative role in
establishing the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) as a major part of the
learning and leadership development opportunities offered to the
students.
Organise and deliver military and adventure training to the CCF.
The role is central to the smooth and efficient running and
development of the leadership potential of Cadets.

MAIN DUTIES
Instruction and
Training

Plan and deliver military and adventurous instruction and
training to CCF Staff and Cadets including mandatory safety tests.

Manage both military and adventurous training camps, shooting
and Cadet Competitions.

Manage the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Equipment and
Administration

Responsible for the issue, care, maintenance and accountability of
all MoD and CCF equipment and run the School adventurous
training stores.

The daily control of the issue, receipt, maintenance, security and
serviceability of arms, ammunition and explosives held in the
Armoury security facilities.

Administration of the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Issuing uniform in line with current policies.

Maintaining all registered numbers equipment held on account,
including all weapons and radio equipment.

Reporting any problems with any equipment held within the
armoury and transport the weapons for repair in line with current
policies.
Other duties
 To safeguard and promote the welfare of children for whom the
post-holder has responsibility or comes into contact with,
including adhering to all specified procedures and reporting all
concerns
 To play a full part in the life of the school and college communities,
to support their distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage
staff and students to follow this example



