Sage Gateshead/Generator are holding an event facilitated by Wendy Smith on 19/03/15 at
Sage Gateshead for music promoters/musicians; invitations being issued on 27/02/15.
Wrote to 55 handpicked professional writers from across the North East (of varying ages and
demographics) to solicit views on the seven questions. Will send collated response and will
also include in the list of people consulted editors, literary promoters and those involved
with the wider sector.
Proposal being developed. Likely to include holding several meetings; perhaps north and
south of region, based on a set of starting assumptions that have already been drawn out of

Taken C4C to local group of the Society of Chief Librarians but didn't have a session as it
overran - talked through background and took questions away to provide individual
feedback. Responses due mid-Feb.
Addressing the university community 17th Feb
For the University consultation, we have agreed that each university will consult with key
colleagues in our own institutions in the first instance, this will be brought back to the
committee of the 5 Universities to discuss, and a co-ordinated response will be submitted.
We've discussed this briefly with Matthew Jarratt, and agreed that due to several coinciding
deadlines we will be able to submit the sector response by the end of March.
Email survey and 1-2-1 discussions with partners, designers and contemporary craft makers
across the North East.
Targeted conversations with our partners and Cultural Education Leadership conference at
the end of February to highlight the C4C with delegates and get feedback. Jonathan has
agreed to be a member of the panel discussion.
Holding an event at Live on 11th March.
Holding a meeting in Feb and sent out a survey monkey to all our artists database (both
Dance City and TIN)
Circus Central/Five Ring Circus – email & follow up telephone interview with organisation;
email survey to artists/participants if required/appropriate. Arts centres – invite to meeting
to discuss in early March; if can’t attend, phone interview or comments by email. Wunderbar
– email & phone call. Also: email sector conveners for theatre, dance, literature, children &
young people, engagement, diversity offering to send any relevant consultation
invitations/surveys etc. to our ARCADE database of c300 individual artists/practitioners.
Annabel to collate notes and email feedback.
Will make link to Voluntary Arts England
Consulting at least 100 people in the sector through interviews/discussions will take place in
meetings/sessions already in the diary.

In addition:
consulting with Teesside Arts, Teesside University and MusicInc in Middlesbrough to ensure
thoughts, feelings and ambitions around culture and engagement on Teesside are included.
We're also doing desk research around participatory arts futures too. We're aware of new
academic papers which could well support our findings.
Proposal:
We'll each elicit 3/5 key themes emerging from our consultations. We're then coming
together afternoon 10 March to compare and contrast those themes. We will bring all raw
data with us too to use as evidence. A final document will be produced.
Proposal being developed.
Email out inviting questionnaire responses to us by end Feb and an invite a meeting on
March 9th at Tyneside in early March. Feedback to response to follow.
Discussed at Board meeting 22/01 (Richard Evans spoke to the paper) and agreed to circulate
the presentation to all members of the Board with the request that they consider the
questions within their own sectors/institutions. Some members of the board said they would
meet with local groups and discuss with their own networks and report back. We agreed that
this all the consultation and our own views would be brought back to the next meeting of the
Board on 19th March and have a whole session dedicated to the case for Culture with a view
to getting back to you with the feedback formally on or about the 20th March.
February meeting and will submit our response from there. It will be representative of all
main cultural venues and orgs in Sunderland.
Discussed initially at NGCV meeting on 2nd February. It was agreed that Declan would
support the CEOs to prepare a submission for the consultation on behalf of the 10 member
organisations, which will be a group response, from the partnership perspective. Note: some
