Externship Opportunities at VSC How to Apply: ·Email a letter of intent, available times, current resume, and documentation regarding the process required by your school Eligibility: Veterinarians (Accommodated based on the needs of DVM) ·Must be a graduate of an AVMA accredited school ·Must have proof of current workers compensation and professional liability insurance Veterinary Students (Depending on years of completion, externships are flexible and can be set up to accommodate the needs of the student). Highest priority will be placed on students who have completed up to 3 years. ·Must be currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited college ·Must have proof of current workers compensation insurance Veterinary Technician Students ·Must be currently enrolled in a veterinary technology program ·Must have completed 1 year of veterinary technician school ·Must have proof of current workers compensation insurance Goals and expectations: ·Services you MAY rotate through include surgery and anesthesia/pain management, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, imaging/radiology, emergency, and dermatology ·Externships can range from 1 day observation to several weeks rotations (depending on needs of extern) ·Externs are expected to: -Be punctual and ready to help whenever you can -Be proactive and attentive but do not get in the way of doctors or technicians as they are trying to perform their jobs and provide the highest quality of care -Assist doctors and technicians when asked to do so -Have a positive attitude -Have a flexible schedule and stay with staff doctor/technician throughout the end of their shift -Confidentiality: You are welcome to discuss any and all cases you see with the doctors and technicians at VSC, but under no circumstance may you discuss the names of clients or their pets with people outside of the hospital Please contact VSC Referral Coordinators Missy McIntyre at mmcintyre@vetspecialty.com or Melissa Quinn at mquinn@vetspecialty.com for more information
