Recommended Packing List for 9th Grade Punta Mona and Pacuare River Rafting Trip
Students, this is only a three day trip and you will have to carry your gear in to Punta Mona therefore we recommend
you bring only what is on this list and make sure it fits in a backpack the same size as the one you use for school, no
bigger. Your backpack should be one you are used to and is comfortable to carry. There is no need to bring more than is
on this list. Stick to the bare essentials.





Hiking boots OR tennis shoes with good traction to hike to Punta Mona
3 pairs of good hiking socks
T-shirts (4)
Sport sandals, water socks, river booties or tennis shoes to wear during the rafting segment that you do not
mind if they get wet
Shorts (3)
Swimming suit (2)
Nylon pants (1)
Warm top (sweatshirt/fleece)
Rain jacket
Sunscreen
Socks and underwear
Insect repellent
2 Water bottles
Toiletries (NO LARGE BOTTLES OF PRODUCTS PLEASE!!)
Plastic bags for wet swimming suits, dirty shoes, etc.
Small beach towel
Flashlight or headlamp with batteries

IMPORTANT: Please do not bring anything valuable on this trip. We would prefer you do not bring electronics,
however we understand that they are nice to have for the bus ride. Keep in mind that any valuable equipment of this
type is your responsibility. If it gets lost or stolen, Country Day School, the teachers, Adventures Under the Sun and the
rafting company staff are not resposible. This equipment needs to stay in your bags in your room while we are out doing
activities. It can be confiscated if you are caught using it while an activity is in place. Take note that there is restricted
celular phone service in the areas we are visiting. Parents, please remember that the general guideline for field trips is
'no news is good news'. The teachers and/or trip leaders will communicate with the school and AUSun to let them
know how things are progressing.
