Graecia I TEST Study Guide and Review Schedule
Details About the TEST
Friday’s TEST is worth 50 points. It will be challenging, and will require practice and review this week.
Spelling counts on every single part of the test; practice spelling English words you don’t know.
The TEST consists of 36 questions with the following breakdown:
I. Littera Graeca (Greek Letters) – 10 questions at one point per question (10)
 Identify the Greek letters and write their names
II. Vocabularum (Vocabulary) – 8 questions at one point per question (8)
 This part is just like your vocabulary quizzes—define, then give case or gender (as indicated)
III. Sententiae (Sentences) – 3 sentences to translate at 3 points each (9)
 These sentences are very similar to the sentences we’ve been translating during class.
IV. The Greek Inception Myth – 9 sentences at 1 point each (9)
 Fill in the blanks with the appropriate character or other word from Hesiod’s myth
V. The Minoan Civilization & Theseus – 6 reading comprehension questions; various point values (14)
 Most of these are questions from homework or classwork assignments
 The last question is a bonus question, and will not count against you; it has to do with the
Spelling differences between such words as Kronos/Cronus and Ouranos/Uranus.
The best advice I can give you is to use the boxes provided before some of the sections, re-read all of the
reading assignments you’re being tested on, and follow all requirements from the directions (e.g. writing
in complete sentences, etc.)
N.b. (nota bene – “note well”) that there will be questions on this test that do not appear on study
guides. I believe that including such questions from class activities or discussions will reward those who
pay attention and participate in class.
