Raspberry Ripple - 1 October 2015 Pips Perspective For those of you who follow me on Twitter you’ll know that there’s been a lot going on recently; I spoke to our Region Trefoil Guild members at their AGM about ‘Managing Change in my Guiding Life’; was thrilled to join Queen’s Guide recipients at their presentation at the House of Commons with the Chief Guide; met with the group planning ‘Use Your Voice 2016’ (our not-to-be-missed The Senior Section Spectacular event next September); enjoyed lunch with the Region Associates; walked some of Girlguiding Kent Weald County’s 8 mile Challenge Invicta (what a great event for Guides and TSS!); and presented a very well deserved Laurel Award to Jo Wheeler (from Croydon). Twitter is a great way to communicate, in small bite sized chunks, about what is currently interesting you in life. I follow a whole range of people and organisations, picking up on what is going on in Girlguiding across the Region, Country and the world, in addition to national news stories and special interests. You can imagine that Growing Up Wild and organisations that promote children’s connection with nature feature high on my Twitter feed! Not a Tweeter yet? Why not give it a go? Check out our ‘How to’ videos on our website and get yourself started. Follow your County and maybe think about setting up a Unit Twitter account to tell the world what you’re getting up to. Of course you’ll also want to follow @Guiding_LaSER for the latest Region news! Happy Tweeting! The Senior Section Spectacular website is now live! We are excited to announce that The Senior Section Spectacular website is now live! It features all the different events and activities on offer across the year, including an area dedicated to Mission Spectacular – our exciting new challenge badge! You’ll also be able to find out about Team Spectacular and purchase tickets for Spark – The Senior Section Spectacular opening event at Alexandra Palace. Take a look and start planning your adventures to celebrate 100 years of The Senior Section today! Attention The Senior Section Members - Become a Peer Educator! 4 (peer education) is Girlguiding's innovative programme that trains members of The Senior Section to empower themselves and others to make a difference in the lives of girls throughout the UK. There is a fantastic opportunity for members of The Senior Section to attend a National Peer Education Training on Friday 20th November – Sunday 22nd November at Lodge Hill Centre, Pulborough. Peer Educators will be able to deliver sessions to Brownies, Guides and The Senior Section helping them think and talk about issues that are important to them. To find out more and apply please see here. Twitter: Don’t forget! If you are tweeting photos of what you and your girls are up to, remember you need to have the appropriate photo permissions for the individuals in the photos. Did you know? In 2013 we changed our strapline from ‘Girls in the Lead’ to ‘We Discover, We Grow’. We also use ‘We are, we can, we do’ which sets out the key idea, message and thinking behind our brand. Find out more about our branding. Get Your Skates On! BP Adventure Weekend Girlguiding Kent Weald County are running a BP Adventure weekend.
