Reading/Language Arts *predicting outcomes * long “o” /silent e (sneaky e) *nouns (singular and plural) *subject/verb agreement *prepositions *identifying sentences *commas in the date *adjectives * possessive nouns Math *shapes and fractions *measurement Writing *using tree maps and circle maps *informational writing Social Studies/Science *Famous Americans * weather Homework Spelling Words: cute flute rude what use my tube were rule said M-Spelling: Students (not parents) make flash cards for your words. Practice reading and spelling each word. Return cards in baggie for homework completion credit. Keep them home the rest of the week for your child’s use. Fluency: Read passage, time for 1 minute, record number of words, answer questions on back. Reminders and events: * STORYBOOK CHARACTER DAY Friday, Oct. 31- Pay $1 to dress up as your favorite storybook character—all proceeds go to Mr. Dawson’s spring production of The Wizard of Oz! * Fall Festival: Friday November 7! *Box Tops: Please send in your Box Tops. I am able to use the money earned right in the classroom. Recruit your family members, too! *Class Picture Day – Monday, November 3 *Make-up Picture Day – Monday, November 3 *PE Rotation: We have a five day rotation. Day 1 is Music, Day 2 is PE, Day 3 is Computer, Day 4 is Art, Day 5 is PE. Please wear appropriate shoes on PE days. *Website: We have a class website!! Have your child read the passage and record the number of words read in one minute. Repeat this procedure on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights answering the questions on the back. Please give the feedback on how your child was able to read the passage. This is not meant to frustrate. *I am updating my parent email addresses so I can use this as another form of communication from school to home.
