OSU Department of Psychiatry Request for Auxiliary Faculty Status Psychiatrists and other health professionals who are interested in providing education and/or participating in patient care or research at the OSU Department of Psychiatry are encouraged to apply for auxiliary faculty status. The initial step in this process is to send a request for faculty status to the OSU Department of Psychiatry Chairman, Radu Saveanu, MD. The applicant should include a copy of a current curriculum vitae and a brief statement regarding his/her professional interests and rationale for pursuing faculty status. Once the request is received, it will be forwarded to the Appointments, Promotion and Tenure (AP&T) Committee for review and consideration. The Committee will forward a recommendation to the Chairman, who will then provide a written response to the applicant, generally within two months of the receipt of the initial request. If the response is affirmative, a letter of offer and related attachments outlining requirements, expectations, length of appointment, benefits, and legal requirements will be sent to the faculty candidate, along with a copy of the OSU Department of Psychiatry AP&T Guidelines. Typically, faculty appointments are designated for a one-year period. During this time, the contributions and performance of the faculty member will be reviewed by the AP&T Committee according to departmental guidelines. Consideration for continuation advancement, or termination of faculty appointment can be initiated by the faculty member, AP&T Committee or the Chairman of the Department.
