Staffing Announcement Associate Dean, Continuing Education – Part-time and Graduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, Community and Urban Studies I am pleased to announce that Dr. James Humphreys has accepted the position of Associate Dean, Continuing Education – Part-time and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Community and Urban Studies. Since 1997, James has fulfilled a number of roles at Seneca College including Professor and Academic Chair in the School of Biological Sciences and Applied Chemistry. During his tenure as Chair, James renewed articulation agreements with the University of Guelph, expanded the use of computer tablets in the classroom, implemented clicker technology and was successful in securing funding to implement a tablet technology project for remedial math courses and basic laboratory skills training. James was also responsible for establishment of a new articulation agreement for Seneca biotechnology graduates with Charles Sturt University. Enrolment in the School of Biological Sciences and Applied Chemistry increased by over 10% in both 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 under his leadership. From 2006 -2009 James was a Professor and eLearning Faculty Advisor for the Faculty of Applied Arts and Health Sciences. His role was to assist faculty with Seneca’s course management system and development of mixed-mode and fully online courses, including the development of learning objects, creation of multimedia resources and delivery of workshops for faculty and staff. Exploration of new and emerging technologies and investigation of their pedagogical value were key components of this role. Currently, James has been partially seconded to the Seneca College Centre for Academic Excellence and has been responsible for the development of an annual program review report card, review of the current program review structure and is leading the PQAPA report back process. James has also been the Seneca College representative on the Educational Technology Committee of Ontario. James brings a broad range of knowledge, experience and understanding of the post-secondary sector which I am confident will allow him to advance the priorities of this portfolio and overall corporate Mohawk College Strategic directions.
