Cattle Drives Script
[Intro: Long ago, in 1873… lived five young men, destined to be Cattle Drive
Legends; Randy (Ricky- Chef), Joe Bobby (Mayten- drover), Billy (Grant- Trail Boss),
Jimbo (Cullen- drover), and Bo (Cade- drover)] (Cullen is also Juan, the cattle
rustler- Alter Ego)
Joe Bobby: Ya’ll don’t call me crazy, but I think we’d be great on them cattle drives.
Bo: You’re kiddin’, right?
Randy: Noooo, we should do it. Ya’ll know I’m a mean chef. My three-bean-chili can
knock ya right outta yer seat.
Jimbo: Yeah, my Uncle Billy is a trail boss from Brownville who I think would like for
us to work for him.
Joe Bobby: Alright, let’s send em’ a letter.
[FOUR WEEKS LATER…]
Jimbo: Hey! Hey! I got a letter from Uncle Billy! He wants us on the drives! We need
to get to Brownsville in a month so we can go! We’ll be on the Chisholm Trail, which
starts in Brownsville and ends in Abilene, Kansas. We’ll have about twelve men with
us, fifty horses, and 2,000 cattle.
Bo: Alright, let’s do it.
All Four: Yeahhhh!!!
[ANOTHER FOUR WEEKS LATER…]
(Randy, Bo, Jimbo, and Joe Bobby walk up to Billy)
Billy: Heeyyy!!! Why if it isn’t my nephew and his friends! Jimbo, it seems like I
haven’t seen you since you were three!
Jimbo: It has been that long…
Billy: (Awkward look…)
Randy: Anyway, so when do we get started?
Billy: We leave tomorrow, so make sure that you get yer sleep- Ya’ll are gonna need
it ‘cause ya won’t get much of it.
[THE NEXT MORNING]
(The five meet up at the Brownsville city limits, surrounded by “cattle”)
Bo: Wooh! I dunno ‘bout ya’ll, but I’m more nervous than Santa Ana after San Jacinto.
Billy: Ahhh… there’s nothing to worry about, except for Indians, cattle rustlers,
hostile frontiersmen, sleep deprivation, Texas fever, and cold, dreadful nights.
Bo: (Shocked face.)
Randy: All right! Let’s get started.
[ANIMATION SHOWING MAP AND WHERE WE ARE- LIKE GPS- STOPS AT NUECES
RIVER]
[GALLOPING UP TO NUECES RIVER]
Joe Bobby: OOOH-WEEH! This past month has been tough.
Jimbo: Yeah, I know. I’m hungrier than a Southern soldier in the Civil War.
Randy: Haaaaah. How ‘bout I whip up some tater and carrot stew before we cross
this here river.
Joe Bobby: Sounds good!
[FORTY MINUTES LATER]
Billy: That stew was great, Randy! Alright, let’s cross that river. And be careful.
Crossing rivers can be dangerous
(Have a blue blanket laid down on grass. Act like we’re kind of struggling to get
across. “Mooooo… SPLASH!!”- 14 cattle drowned.)
Billy: That’s alright ya’ll, we got plenty more. Now let’s call it a night, ya’ll!
Joe Bobby: Good, cuz’ I’m beat!
Jimbo: Sorry, Joe Bob, but you have the first two-hour night shift.
Joe Bobby: Gosh, Darn it! Alright, but I’m getting some sleep afterwards!
[NIGHTTIME- (Even though it’s “daylight”)]
(Joe Bobby is on guard, struggling to stay awake. Others are sleep around him)
Joe Bobby: Must… stay…up. Can’t… do… it. (Doses off..)
Juan (Cattle Rustler): (*Whispering*) These want to be vaqueros are so foolish for
sleeping on duty. Being a cattle rustler, I will make these cattle mine! (Dah-DahDAAAAH!!!!!)
[NEXT MORNING…]
Randy: Where did some of the cattle go?
Bo: We’ve been cattle rustled!!!
Billy: No! No! No! I thought we had shifts!
Joe Bobby: (*Whisper*) Sorry…
Billy: Oh well, let’s just get to Abilene in one piece.
[MAP ANIMATION AGAIN. SHOWS US ARRIVING AT ABILENE.)
Billy: Here’s Abilene, men!
Jimbo: After three long months, we’ve finally made it to Abilene. Our journey is
complete!
Randy: Yes! We’re done! I’ve never worked so hard in my life!
Bo: Yeah good job, Randy. You really kept us alive out there!
Joe Bobby: I’m just glad I don’t have to travel anymore!
Billy: Well, Joe Bobby- We have to go back to Brownsville.
Joe Bobby: (Shocked, sad face.)
