Launch of Royal Ulster Winter Fair at new venue
The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society today launched the 27th Royal Ulster Winter Fair in
association with Danske Bank. The event takes place on the 13th December at the new King’s
Hall Pavilions, a unique 5,000 square metre exhibitions and events venue located at the Balmoral
Showgrounds. This growing event will offer visitors an opportunity to see the highest quality of
livestock competing throughout the day for the coveted title of Supreme Champion, over 150 dairy
related trade exhibitors and a new seminar suite.
Colin McDonald, RUAS Chief Executive, welcomed guests to the launch and highlighted the
relocation to the King’s Hall Pavilions as another step towards a revitalised Winter Fair. With the
move to the new venue we have been able to grow the size of the event by almost 18%. As usual
visitors will see the highest quality of dairy cattle on show as well as finding out what new products
and innovations the dairy industry has to offer.”
Colin went on to say that, “The Winter Fair has always been and will continue to be a place to
network and do business. We know from visitor and exhibitor feedback that a large amount of
business takes place during the event. This will be aided by the addition of the new seminar suite
which will encourage more networking and learning opportunities for attendees.”
Danske Bank continues as sole sponsor of the event making this 27 years of continuous
sponsorship. Speaking after the launch John Henning, Head of Agricultural Relations at Danske
Bank said, “The launch of this year's Royal Ulster Winter Fair comes at an exciting time for us as
we change our name to Danske Bank. Although the name changes, our support of the Winter Fair
continues with the 2012 event marking the twenty seventh year of our sponsorship.
The Winter Fair is an event that we feel close to and our support for this premier dairy show
reflects our strong commitment to the wider agri-food industry in Northern Ireland – both in terms
of our significant lending to the sector and the expertise of our dedicated Agribusiness team”
The RUAS look forwarding to welcoming Patrice Simard from Quebec, Canada as this year’s
