RUAS Winter Fair Judge Announced
Brian Leslie from Shepparton, Victoria, Australia has been announced as the judge for the
25th anniversary Royal Ulster Winter Fair.
Brian is well known throughout Australia as the foremost dairy cattle auctioneer and sale
manager having sold almost all pedigree and leading commercial dairy cattle in Australia
for over 25 years.
He is also partner in the well known livestock agency Dairy Livestock Services.
Brian has recently sold his AI Company, 21st Century Genetics to Alta Genetics Inc. This
company was owned in partnership was the exclusive marketer of Alta, Cogent, OHG,
Genes Diffusion and Rapid Bay Sires for many years.
They also sampled bulls in Australia and at one time owned and proved the number one
Holstein and Jersey Sires.
Brian was raised on a pedigree Holstein farm. He partners his two brothers and parents in
over 6,000 acres where they milk 350 registered Holsteins all year round, grow all their
own feed and crop and also run a beef herd. The dairy herd average is consistently
approx 9,000 litres, 4.2% fat and 3.6% protein.
Leslie Farms herd, Pooley Bridge has exhibited Grand Champion Holstein at International
Dairy Week (the largest Dairy Show in the Southern Hemisphere) 3 times, won Premier
Breeder and Exhibitor 13 times and over 20 championships in recent years.
Holsteins from Pooley Bridge have sold for record prices and have won at IDW for new
owners.
At the 2009 Royal Melbourne Show, Leslie won all 3 female Champions and had many
Champions at Royal Melbourne and Sydney Shows.
They have imported numerous embryos from Canada and USA with much success;
however it was exporting embryos from their IDW Grand Champion to Canada that
resulted in Fraeland Goldwyn Bonnie, the 2009 Res All Ontario 2 year old.
Brian has judged in Canada 12 times including the Royal Winter Fair, Hayes Scotia Bank
Classic and the 2007 Canadian Holstein Convention Show. He has also judged in
Germany and a number of times in New Zealand. He has judged every Dairy Breed at All
Royal Shows throughout Australia for the past 30 years and is the Director and Founder of
International Dairy Week.
