Joke Machine CBBC
Episode 21 – Monday 23rd June
Episode 39 – Late July
Jason from CBBC emailed Mrs Gough about the programmes.
Jason said,
“It’s only now that I have finished the edit that I’m able to
look at the shows and feel extremely proud that we managed to get such brilliant joke tellers. Your children were
so polite, intelligent and above all witty. They are the heart
and soul of the programme I hope you will be pleased with
the final project as we are I’m confident we’ve uncovered
some future stars too.
As stressed not all the children’s jokes will make the final
edit so please reassure the children that this is for a variety of reasons – repeat jokes; tight duration, etc.
Thank you again for making it possible for your pupils. It
was a genuine joy to visit your area and work with your
school.”

We wish them good luck in the final.
My Fair Lady
Our P7 children were magnificent! Adults are still
talking about how exceptionally good the children
were with each taking their role and making it very
much their own.
Sincere thanks to Mrs Fleming, producer,
Mr Gallagher and all the staff who helped make this a
wonderful memory for all 42 P7 children.
Goodbye and Thank You
Mrs McGivern has been providing support for children
who find literacy difficult and her expertise in this
area has been valued by staff over the years.
She has now decided to retire fully from teaching.
We are so grateful for the wonderful service she has
given St Joseph’s over the past six years and we wish
her good health and happiness to enjoy a slower pace
of life in the future. Mrs McGivern leaves on Friday
13th June.
Healthy Eating
Our whole school focus this month is to educate the children to make healthy choices
when they are choosing food. We sent a separate
letter telling you about our efforts to help you understand if your child is throwing food in the bin instead of eating it.
Primary 1 Children
The children will go home at 12 noon on Wednesday
18th June in order that the new P1 children can visit
the school. Parents should pick up at the back doors
of the P1 classrooms as usual at 12 noon.
Condolences
We express our sincere sympathy to members of
staff in our school who have lost loved ones in the
past few weeks:
* Mrs Patricia Diamond and Mrs Angela Mulholland
lost their father.
*Mrs Joanne Hooks lost her father.
*Mrs Patricia Kelly lost her brother.
May they rest in peace.
Creative Voices Art Exhibition
Friday 13th June 2014 9am-3pm
Please come along and view the amazing work
which has been produced by our children who
attend Creative Voices. This is a wonderful celebration of the work which the children have
produced. Pieces can be bought like a real art
exhibition but in St Joseph’s £1=£1000;
50p=£500; 20p=£200.
So come along and reserve your piece of art.
Viewing anytime during the day.
Sports Days
Congratulations to all our children for entering into Sports Day with such fun and
sportsmanship. It is delightful to see children really enjoying physical activity. Thank you to
the staff who made each of the days so rewarding
for both children and parents.
School Premises are Smoke Free Zones. Can I ask
parents to respect this rule and not smoke in the
grounds of the school.
After School Activities
Friday 6th June is the scheduled date for the end of
After School Activities. Due to some cancellations
for various reasons since January however, a number
of activities will continue for one more session next
week.
Those activities are:
Irish Dancing (Monday)
*Monkeynastix (Tuesday)
Netball (Wednesday)
Computer Club (Thursday)
*Monkeynastix has been cancelled three
times since January – if your child missed out on any
of those three occasions, then they are welcome to
attend on Tuesday
We try to make cancellation of activities a last resort. Unfortunately we were met with some exceptional circumstances both this term and last which
left cancellation as our only option. We appreciate
your understanding when this happens.
Once again - many thanks to all of the teachers and
tutors who provide an after school activity.
Choir
Choir will continue on Tuesday from 3-4pm
Belfast v Dublin Schools
Best wishes to Cara McMahon, Niall Dixon and Oisin
Gorman who are currently attending trials to represent a Belfast Schools Gaelic Team v their Dublin
counterparts. This is a high standard of children’s
Gaelic Games and we hope that they can all ‘make the
grade’.
