Skills and Experience
As a trained wildlife illustrator, Jenny has been exhibiting in the Aberdeen area since moving from Liverpool in
1998. She exhibits in specialist galleries in the USA and Canada, as well as in London and around the UK. She
creates informative compositions in watercolour, gouache and pencil. Whilst at Blackpool she also trained in
photography, which allows her to generate first hand reference in support of her artwork. The work is highly
detailed wildlife art, varying between large watercolour compositions to miniature works, which are produced on
Ivorine and Polymin. This specialist translucent man made archival base is 0.006” in thickness. Many of her
miniature pieces are painted not much larger than 4”x6” including frame. She has always enjoyed capturing
nature in its finest detail and frequently uses brushes down to triple zero in size to achieve the levels of
precision that are characteristic of her miniature works.
Ilkley Yorkshire 2002 saw the beginning of her miniature painting. She was the winner of the Rose Bowl for
best artist in the miniaturist exhibition, and was later elected to be a member of the British Society of
Miniaturists (BSM).
She was then elected to associate membership of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers
(ARMS) in 2006 and won the Anita Presentation Award for 'Perfection in every aspect'. This was for her
butterfly miniature 'Dark Green Fritillary on Spear Thistle'. In which she also received an engraved silver guilt
magnifying glass. This was a very proud moment for her and a great accolade, endorsing her passion for
producing highly detailed work. In 2008 she was then elected to be a Full Member of the Royal Society of
Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers (RMS) at the Mall Galleries in London. In 2010 she entered the
miniaturists Small In Nature Exhibition in British Columbia, Canada, winning 1st place/prize with the piece
‘At Home in the Bramble’. In 2012 she was very honoured to be elected as a Council member of the RMS.
As one of the founder members of the ‘artaboyne’ committee, Jenny still enjoys helping and exhibiting at this
fantastic show. It comprises of a group of about 50 North East artists that come together in Aboyne to show
their works. The exhibition has fast become one of the largest in the area, attracting visitors from all over the
country, and it has a reputation for showing a very high standard of work.
The National Exhibition of Wildlife Art (NEWA) is held at Gordale Garden Centre on the Wirral. This is another
juried show Jenny enjoys exhibiting with, it is a great exhibition to see all the top wildlife artists in the country in
one place. This exhibition along with artaboyne tends to be where Jenny shows her larger works. It also means
she can pop home to see family who are still in Liverpool when delivering works prior to the exhibition.
In May 2015 she exhibited in Kirkland, Washington, USA where her work was accepted by Parklane gallery for
the 23rd Annual International Juried Miniature Show. She was also awarded an Honourable Mention for her
piece ‘The Lone Ranger”.
The next challenge is to enter works into MASF. This is the Miniature Art Society of Florida where she hopes to
show some of her bird miniatures in Scottish landscapes. If accepted these will be on show in Jan 2016.
The WFM (World Federation of Miniatures Exhibition) will then be next. This will be held in South Africa in Feb
2016 and brings together all the best miniature societies of the world.
The Monymusk Arts Centre in Aberdeenshire will be celebrating their 25 th year in 2015. For their anniversary
Jenny has been asked to exhibit from August 15th through to September 5th as part of the trusts calendar of
events. She plans to produce works inspired by wildlife interaction with man made objects.
As well as being a featured artist, Jenny also works part time at the Milton Art Gallery situated along Royal
Deeside in Banchory. It is a great place to work and keeps her in touch with other artists and the public.

Artist’s Statement
‘As a wildlife artist I love the idea that I will never know what my next composition will be until it jumps out at
me in the field! Those brief exciting encounters, for me is what wildlife painting is all about”.
I am a member of the RSPB, the WWF and Butterfly Conservation Scotland, which enhances my knowledge of
the subjects I am studying.
