Hi,
25 Medicine Hat Waves swimmers were racing at the Marlin Marquee 2015 Invitational meet at
the Family Leisure Center this past weekend.
The meet was hosted by AMAC over 2 days, preliminary heats in the morning and finals in the
evening.
We would like to congratulate the following swimmers:
Anna Nozewski achieved her 15 year old Canadian National Time in 50m breaststroke!
Quirina Thompson achieved a provincial A time in 100m butterfly!
Jaiden Riddell racked up 4 more provincial A times this weekend, bringing his total up to 7!
Zack Jacobs achieved his meet qualifying time this weekend in the 400m freestyle, making him
eligible to compete at Age Group Trials in February!
All swimmers did a terrific job, 18 of the 25 made the finals & 176 new personal best times
were achieved.

Grace Jacobs (9) – 50 back, second; 100 IM, fourth; 100 back, fifth; 200 IM, fifth; 200 free,
eighth; 50 free, eighth; 50 fly, eighth, 50 breast, 10th.
*Our little Grace swam 8 events and made 7 finals for a total of 15, and she swam 10 new
best times*
Jaylyn Austin (10) – 100 breast, fifth; 50 breast, sixth; 100 free, sixth; 100 IM, eighth; 200 IM,
ninth; 200 free, 12th; 100 back, 13th; 50 free, 14th.
*Jaylyn swam 8 events, and made 4 finals for a total of 12 swims. She achieved 9 new
personal best times this weekend*
Albany Mastel (9) – 400 free, eighth; 50 back, 10th; 100 breast, 10th; 100 free, 16th; 200 free,
19th; 50 breast, 22nd; 50 free, 24th.
*Albany had a great meet, racing in 8 events and gaining 5 new best times*
Taigan Walker (9) – 100 breast, 11th; 100 free, 12th; 50 back, 17th; 50 breast, 18th; 50 free,
18th; 100 back, 19th.
*I am so proud of Taigan, she is coming out of her shell & trying many new swims, 6 races & 4
best times!*
Isabella Middleton (9) – 100 breast, 14th; 100 free, 15th; 50 back, 18th; 50 breast, 20th; 100
back, 21st; 200 free, 21st; 50 free, 26th.
*Izzy did an amazing job this weekend! She raced in 8 events and now has 6 new best times
under her cap!*

Karsten Senft (10) – 100 breast, first; 100 IM, second; 100 free, third; 200 free, third; 50 free,

*Wow, an amazing performance by our youngest male swimmer, 8 prelims, 6 finals & 9 best

Trinity Shilka (12) – 50 breast, first; 100 breast; first; 50 fly, first; 200 IM, first; 100 fly, second;
100 free, second; 400 IM, third; 50 free, fifth.
*Trinity swam 8 prelims and 7 finals and besides all the first place finishes, she swam 3 new
best times*
Quirina Thompson (12) – 100 fly, first; 100 IM, first; 50 back, first; 50 fly, second; 200 IM,
second; 100 free, fourth; 400 IM, fourth; 50 breast, fourth.
*Q raced like a pro this weekend, wow! 8 prelims, 7 finals & 8 new best times*
Berlin Mastel (11) – 50 free, third; 100 IM, third; 800 free, fifth; 50 breast, seventh; 100 breast,
seventh; 100 free, eighth; 200 IM, 13th.
*Berlin raced in 8 prelims and made 5 finals. She swam 10 new personal best times this
weekend!*
Rachel Regier (12) – 100 back, sixth; 400 free, 10th; 50 fly, 11th; 200 IM, 12th; 50 back, 12th;
200 free, 12th; 50 free, 13th.
*Rachel swam really well this weekend, 8 prelims and 8 best times. She took off over 16s in
her 200 free!*
Jenna Austin (11) – 100 IM, sixth; 400 free, ninth; 200 IM, 10th; 200 free, 10th; 100 breast,
12th; 50 fly, 14th; 50 breast, 14th; 50 free, 18th.
*Jenna swam 8 events and made 1 final. She achieved 9 new personal best times, 100%
success*
Mackenzie Walker (12) – 100 IM, 13th; 200 IM, 17th; 100 free, 20th; 50 back, 25th; 50 breast,
25th; 100 back, 25th; 200 free, 26th; 50 free, 30th.
*Mackenzie had a fantastic meet. She swam 8 events, and 8 new personal best times. Great
Job girl!*
Ella Lahey (12) – 50 breast, 15th; 100 breast, 15th; 50 back, 21st; 200 IM, 22nd; 100 back, 26th;
100 free, 27th; 50 free, 35th.
*Ella swam 7 races and achieved 5 new personal best times. Great job Ella!*

making his total swims 16. He also gained 7 new best times!!!*
Aaron Kruger (12) – 100 fly, third; 50 fly, third; 100 free, third; 100 IM, third; 50 free, fifth; 100
back, fifth; 50 breast, sixth; 100 breast, sixth.
*My favorite race of the weekend, was the anchor leg of the boys 200 medley relay, in which
Aaron flew off the block and caught the LASC swimmer & passed him for the win! Aaron
made it in the finals in all of his events, swimming 16 total & achieving 9 new best times!*
Jericho Raneses (12) – 100 fly, second; 100 IM, fourth; 50 back, fifth; 50 fly, sixth; 100 back,
sixth; 100 free, sixth; 50 breast, 10th; 50 free, 13th.
*Jericho made 6 of his 8 finals for a total of 14 swims this weekend. He raced his heart out,
gaining 3 new best times*

Mini Meet
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support the swimmers at our first Mini Meet

Alberta Age Group Trials (South) or B’s – Trials will be held February 19-21 at the Talisman
Center in Calgary.
Swimmers must qualify for this meet by achieving 1 age distinct MQT (meet qualifying time).
Alberta Age Group Championships or A’s – Provincials will be held March 4-6, at the Talisman
Center in Calgary.
Swimmers must qualify for this meet by achieving 1 age distinct MQT & 1 provincial A qualifying
time.
