invited to take part in
this year’s
Homecoming,
beginning with a
parade at 5:00pm on
October 14th. The
parade will start at
the intersection of
Green Road and
Walnut Lake Road
and proceed down
Green Road to the
high school. The
school’s marching
band will lead the
way, followed by
floats and marchers.
Sometimes marchers
throw candy out to
the sidewalk for kids.

Roosevelt Important Dates

These dates are helpful to teachers, students, and staff
October 14th _ There will be senior bingo in the
cafeteria. So if your mom , dad, grandma, or
grandpa wants to play bingo bring them to
Roosevelt’s cafeteria.
October 17th _ MEAP testing, so parents don’t let
your kids miss it.
October 21st _ Progress reports are due.
October 24th _ It’s the school board meeting: WBHS
4 h #110 4:15 –6:30.
October 19th _ Is barbecue for our staff, also is the
Detroit Lions assembly in the gym at 2:00-2:45, also
the second MEAP test for writing is on.

This is what we are doing in the Magnet Program this week. It is going to be a great week of learning and fun. Those biome
projects in science seem cool and unit one of Math is already done in all the classes. In Language Arts everybody is working
on articles and stories. In AVID everybody has a goal from projects to organization. This is going to be an amazing week.

Once the parade gets to the high school, the Lakers football
game follows, with kickoff at 7:00 pm. Food will be sold at the
football game so fans can have dinner while they watch the game.
Also, at half time the band will play again and there will be other
Homecoming festivities.
On the following night, October 15, the traditional
Homecoming dance will be held at the high school at 7:00pm. The
Homecoming king and queen will be announced at a ceremony.
Homecoming is where former students from high schools or
colleges get together and celebrate usually with a parade and
something involving sports. West Bloomfield High School first

Be a Magnet Star

Anyone can be a Magnet Star! A Magnet
Star is someone who is recognized for doing
something exciting, something cool, or it is someone
who achieved a goal. The reward for being
identified as a Magnet Star is to be recognized by
the class in this column. I can’t imagine anyone who
wouldn’t want to be a Magnet Star!
The first Magnet Star is Bryce Stickley.
Recently Bryce earned his green belt in American
martial arts, so he will be honored as a green belt
until he earns his blue belt. To earn his green belt
he went through a lot of hard work, learned respect
for the instructors and higher ranking martial artists.
He learned discipline, too. Bryce began as a white
belt then moved up the ranks through orange,
yellow and camouflage to earn the green belt.

You can be a Magnet Star by earning a medal,
trophy or achieving a goal. Remember that when
someone is Magnet Star they are recognized for
being an achiever. It is a different person each time.
