Siemens MR Magnet Technology is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of superconducting magnets for magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI): over a third of MRI scanners installed worldwide have at their heart a magnet made at our Eynsham
factory. The business has been awarded several Queens’ Awards for export success, two Best Factory Awards and an
IMechE Manufacturing Excellence Award, and is justifiably proud of its engineering and manufacturing heritage.
Following a review of our technology development strategy, we are strengthening our magnet engineering teams, and currently
have a fantastic opportunity for a graduate engineer or applied physicist. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary
group in our Engineering Department, and work to maintain our state of the art competence in magnet design, analysis
techniques and manufacturing processes.
What are my responsibilities?
 Generation, development and evaluation of innovative design solutions to ensure world-class product performance and a
comprehensive intellectual property portfolio.
 Identification, assessment and management of technology and process development projects to ensure competitive
advantage.
 Component concept, design and delivery in line with product and technology roadmaps, and in response to market and
commercial drivers.
 Evaluation of technical manufacturing issues in support of reliable product performance in the factory and on-site.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
 You will be graduating or have already graduated with a minimum of a 2:2 or above in Physics, Engineering (Mechanical,
Electrical/Electronic or Aerospace) or a Natural Sciences degree.
 An awareness of experiment design and data analysis, to understand and solve challenging technical problems.
 The ability to plan and mitigate risks to acceptable levels, to ensure project objectives are achieved on time.
 You will have excellent communication skills, and a capacity for working independently as well as in a team.
