Festival Overview
The Rose of Tralee International Festival is delighted to announce ‘The Festival Food and Craft Market’ on
Denny Street, The Mall, Pearse Park and the Town Square / Central Plaza for the five days of the 2015
Festival.
Celebrating its 56th year, the Festival will run from Friday 14th of August until Tuesday 18th of August 2015.
We celebrate with 200,000 Festival visitors over the five days who enjoy the incredible experience the
Festival has become.

2. Fees
NOTE: Unfortunately from 2015 VAT @ 23% will be added to all fees below

* Share Licence = Two or more traders may come together and take alternate or back to back days.
This would be more suitable for traders with perishable or cottage industry products. There are only a small
number of Share Licences available on a first-come basis.
A refundable deposit of 20% of the Fee (cheque only) is required at time of application. The cheque will be
held as a bond only and not be cashed by the Rose Festival before the festival and returned at the end of
the contract. Money orders and bank deposits will not be accepted.
3. Selection Process

The Rose of Tralee International Festival are members of the ‘Greener Festivals’ initiative and have strict
standards in regards to ecological operations and will give preference to environmentally aware vendors.
Selection of stalls is based on the information you provide to us and factors we take into consideration
when selecting Stalls for the Rose of Tralee to include:




Quality and attractiveness of your stall
Overall diversity and variety of stalls for our patrons
Locally designed and made products
Information and required paperwork supplied with application
Please include a thorough and detailed description of your Stall, products and previous festival experience.
All applications should include photos, intended layout and additional information to help them
continue through the application process.
Some Stall Applications may not be accepted mainly for reasons of duplication and limited numbers. Nonacceptance is not a reflection on the Stall or Stallholder's quality. If multiple applications are received
offering the same style of products; the local applicants will be considered first.
All applicants will be notified by email or letter no later than 6th July 2015. If successful, full payment must
be made before final confirmation and stall registration is complete. In the event your application is
unsuccessful, your deposit cheque/money order as well as other supporting information will be returned to
you via the post.
Please note: The selection of Stalls are at the absolute and sole discretion of The Rose of Tralee Festival
management and all decisions are final. No further correspondence will be entered into with unsuccessful
applicants.

Locations will be decided by the Festival Management in consultation with Kerry Town Council. However, in
the application below you can request a specific area or trader you would like to trade beside which will be
taken into consideration. The majority of stalls will be located on Denny Street with specific ‘child friendly’

stalls located in Pearse Park as this is where the main children/family events take place throughout the
week.
a. Stall Dimension
Stall Dimension is limited to 3m x 3m, or 6m x 3m.
NB If you request and pay for a 3x3m stall this does not mean you can fit in an additional marquee behind
your stall for storage or stall space extension. A 3x3m stall is a 3x3m stall space only.
b. Visual Appearance - A colourful decoration with friendly atmosphere in a manner that compliments the
festival reflects the products on sale is encouraged. Clear signage with your business name is required for
all stalls. The stall must be clean and presentable at all times.
c. Food Court – We will create a food court within the central area of the Town Square whereby Festival
goers who purchase from our food vendors can eat in the area while enjoying the music and atmosphere.
This will also be utilised by one or two Coffee Shops in the Square who support the Festival. We will also
create a seating area around food vendors in the Denny St. area. All areas are to be serviced by those
vendors and premises using them.
d. Footpath & Street Service – For Denny St. Vendors; during our Street concerts and Saturday night
parade we would like concession stalls to facilitate service from both sides if possible. We will be closing
the streets earlier than previous years to create more of an atmosphere and at Concert times the footpath
for the lower section of Denny St. Will ONLY be for Walk-up Sales for our Concerts on Friday and Sunday
evenings....so there will be no thru traffic however on the street side we would envisage anything up to
2,000 people filtering through.
e. Boundaries of the nominated site have to be observed and goods, equipment and supplies are to be
displayed within this area. It is not acceptable to encroach onto the walkways with products. All racks,
umbrellas and tables must be part of or attached to the actual stall structure and must not impact the
pedestrian thoroughfare or impede on the neighbouring stalls boundaries.
f. Safety - Everything in or around the stall must be securely anchored and capable of withstanding strong
winds and weather conditions.
g. Electricity – Direct Power will be provided at a designated accessible area at no additional charge.
Electricity supply cable runs to the generators must be supplied by the Market stall holder themselves. All
stalls are asked to keep the consumption to the absolute minimum. For 2015 a flat rate charge of €50 or
€100 euro for vendors with a large draw of power. This will be advised prior to arrival in Tralee and must
be paid prior to commencement of operations on site.
h. Electrical equipment - The Stall holder will provide their own lights, leads and power boards fitted
with circuit breakers; the equipment must be water resistant, named and maintained above ground.
All lights, plugs and sockets must be in safe working order and all leads are tested, dated and tagged
by a registered electrician. Any damage caused by electrical over-consumption/overload or misuse will
attract penalties or forfeiture of bond. (Note: The Festival electrician will not repair faulty stall equipment)
5. Goods Sold
It is Rose Festival management dedicated intention to provide a diverse selection of stalls that do not
complete or conflict with each other's potential sales on site and provide an alternative experience for our
patrons. The importance of the information provided in your application is essential to the overall collection
of market stalls on site.
The organisers reserve the right to prohibit offensive goods from being sold or displayed on site, and will
remove any such material from the stall that may offend or cause trouble with Gardai or infringe copyright.
The Rose Festival Management has overall control of signage, material or products sold or displayed at the
event. The use of the Rose of Tralee name and logo is prohibited.
6. Site Restrictions

Stalls must ensure a safe work environment as per Irish Safety regulations

Stall holders are personally responsible for any damage caused by them, the staff or the property
on site
Stallholders take direction from the Stalls Manager and Council Officers
Rose of Tralee Festival, Council Officers, security and the Gardai reserve the right to inspect Stall
premises at any time and request presentation of all relevant documentation
Kerry Rose Festival Ltd will not be liable for damages what-so-ever that is the result of implied or
expressed breaches or mal-practice of any level of Government Authority or Festival rules
No vehicle access allowed during Festival Hours
No deliveries by truck or forklift
Do not drive faster than walking pace
No amplified music
No pets or livestock
No alcohol, glass or aggressive behaviour is permitted within your stall.
7. Rubbish
Please help to conserve precious resources, reduce all retail and bulk packing and/or remove it from the
site and dispose it correctly.



The Rose of Tralee International Festival is a GLASS FREE Zone
Only biodegradable paper or cloth carry bags are to be used
No rubbish is to be left at the stall after Final pack- up
Any rubbish left on site or damage to the stall or equipment provided will immediately forfeit
the returnable deposit. This is a waste-wise event and the festival site is a disposable plastic
bag free zone
8. Requirements
a. Insurance
All traders must carry their own Public and Product Liability Insurance to a value of not less than €6.5
million respectively. All traders must also carry employer's liability for €13 million. Please ensure Kerry
Rose Festival Ltd. AND Kerry County Council are indemnified on your policy. A copy of same must be
provided to The Rose of Tralee Festival once your application is successful and prior to arrival in Tralee.
Copies of the Certificates have to be forwarded before full acceptance of your application can be confirmed
DO NOT presume your pitch will be available if you have not forwarded all required documentation in
advance.
b. Requirement
There is a legal obligation on Kerry County Council and Kerry Rose Festival Ltd as their agents to forward
information regarding traders to the Department of Social Welfare and the Revenue Commissioners e.g.
Name, Address, PPS/Co. Tax No. including a copy of your Tax Clearance Certificate.
9. Safety: Appointed patrol officers (Minimum of two) will patrol the stalls 24 hours a day from 7pm
Thursday 13th of August until 10pm Tuesday 18th of August. Stall holders MUST take stock/equipment each
night. All Pagodas, Awnings, Marquees can be left in place along with tables, chairs. While all reasonable
effort is made to secure the site the organisers take no responsibility for loss or damage to any person or
goods whether or not that loss, damage or injury arises from the negligence, staff or agents of Kerry Rose
Festival Ltd.
10. Deposits: Deposits/Bonds are required from all stalls. A deposit cheque is due at time of application
and will be held as a bond once the application is successful. In case of unsuccessful application the cheque
will be returned, together with the supporting material.
At the conclusion of the festival the Site Manager will inspect the stall areas and provide a report indicating
the release/withhold of the bond. Bonds will be returned soon after the festival. Any forfeiture of bond or
deducted fines will be explained in writing.
11. Communication: Stall holders are required to maintain a permanent and reliable communication with
the Festival Stall Manager. Delayed response to urgent matters may cause cancelation from the stall
holders list.

12. Invoicing: Tax invoices including VAT will be issued by Kerry Rose Festival Ltd for payment and will be
sent to you via email/post. Receipt of payment, if required, will be supplied once you commence trading.
13. Payments: Payments are to be made by cheque only (Inc. deposits) to Kerry Rose Festival Ltd

14. Cancellation Any cancellations by stall holders
a. Before the 27th of July will result in the security deposit being retained.
b. After the 27th of July will result in forfeiture of the security deposit and additional 50% of the total site
fee. If a stallholder is unable, due to weather or any other force majeure event, to conduct and operate
their stalls, Kerry Rose Festival Ltd has no liability or obligation to refund their deposit or stall fees.
However, if the Festival are in a position to find a replacement for the cancellation slot then monies will be
returned.
15. Termination
In case Stall holders breach this agreement in any way, the Rose Festival Management reserves the right
to terminate this agreement forthwith and take possession of the stall area without notice to you.

Terms and Conditions & sign off
A binding agreement between Kerry Rose Festival Ltd and the Stall applicant exists when the following
conditions have occurred:



Stall Holder has paid 20% refundable Deposit
Is notified by the Festival in writing of acceptance
Has received a Festival Market Stall Registration number
I, the undersigned, have read, understood and accepted all Terms and Conditions relating to Market Stall
applications and I agree to comply with same Terms and Conditions. All information that I have given on
this form is true and correct.
I, as the owner of the Market Stall, hereby indemnify Kerry Rose Festival Ltd & Kerry County Council for
any loss, damage, liability or any other action in any way resulting from my Market Stall application or use
of my Market Stall Site area.
I, have not been convicted of two or more offences under the Casual Trading Act 1995 and within three
years prior to the date I intend to commence trading.
I, have no public liability claims against Kerry Rose Festival Ltd. or Kerry County Council or any other local
authority.
I accept that my licence may be revoked at any time for non-compliance with the above/ Casual Trading
Byelaws of 2004.
