DEK & SIPLACE Press News DEK & SIPLACE @ APEX February 24-26, 2015 San Diego, CA APEX 2015: SIPLACE and DEK – working together to simplify and improve your SMT production processes How can you simplify and improve your SMT production processes? Together for the first time, DEK and SIPLACE provide answers to this question and many more at this year’s APEX EXPO at the San Diego Conference Center (February 24-26, Booth 3600). At the center of attention will be the SIPLACE Material Manager as the new software solutions for integrated, SMT-specific material logistics, the SIPLACE SX and SIPLACE XS placement platforms, and DEK Horizon printers with performanceenhancing options. In the Process Solutions Network area at the center of the booth, process experts from SIPLACE and DEK will answer visitors’ questions and demonstrate with the help of panel discussions and technical presentations how the platforms, software and services of DEK and SIPLACE can simplify production processes and significantly increase the productivity and quality of SMT manufacturing lines. ASM Pacific Technology acquired DEK in 2014 and combined it with its existing SIPLACE team to form the new SMT Solutions Segment. At the APEX Expo 2015, DEK and SIPLACE will appear together for the first time to jointly present their products and services to American electronics manufacturers. The stage for this endeavor will be the Process Solutions Network, a central forum at the center of the shared APEX booth where visitors can get information about the latest trends and solutions. Special focus will be given to new solutions to simplify electronics manufacturing processes that have traditionally been complex and trouble-prone. Experts from SIPLACE and DEK will provide detailed information about solutions for the printing and placement processes required for supersmall components, as well as the production of small lot sizes. They will also show how existing applications can be made more efficient with workflow support and what users can do to get ready for future applications like wearable electronics and the rising demand for submodule manufacturing. Eliminate material-related line stops with SMT-specific material logistics The SIPLACE Material Manager is the first integrated solution for SMT-specific material logistics shown at this year’s APEX Expo. The software networks and coordinates the entire material flow on the production floor – from receiving to warehousing and setup to the placement of the component on the circuit board. Components are recorded along with their packaging units and given machine-readable unique ID labels. Based on a modular design, the SIPLACE Material Manager administers the component warehouse, controls automatic rack systems, generates path-optimized pick lists, monitors MSD exposure times, and delivers correct inventory information for production scheduling and ERP systems. It also simplifies, controls and verifies the setup processes. It even draws consumption data directly from the SIPLACE placement lines. When components are about to run out, the machines can request replenishments directly from the component warehouse. In short, the entire material flow is networked and visible at the click of a button anywhere, anytime, and for anyone within the company. It eliminates time-consuming searches and minimizes material-related line stops. An optional add-on to the SIPLACE Material Manager is the SIPLACE Material Tower, a compact, fully automated and MSD-capable storage system. Powerful placement platforms The latest generation of the SIPLACE X4i S platform represents the fastest placement solutions on the market today. It combines speed and precision perfectly. Even the standard version handles the smallest 03015 components with no reconfiguration and no reduction in speed. The SIPLACE SX platform is the solution for electronics production environments that need maximum flexibility paired with speed. The perfect interaction of software and the innovative SIPLACE MultiStar placement head enables manufacturers to churn out many different products with a wide range of components in small lots and with little or no downtime inbetween, and do all of this with the efficiency and productivity that was preciously reserved for high-volume production environments only. And thanks to the unique, interchangeable SX gantries, users can easily scale machine performance up or down or transfer it between lines. Best-in-class printer solutions For demanding automotive applications with cycle times as short as 8 seconds, APEX visitors will want to examine the DEK Horizon 01iX printer that has been preconfigured with ASM Press Office, Americas Mark Ogden 3975 Lakefield Ct Ste 106, Suwanee, GA 30024 Tel. +1.770.797.3189 / E-mail: ogden.mark@asmpt.com Internet: www.siplace.com / www.dek.com options like Hawkeye 1700, ProDEK verification and traceability. For high-mix environments, the DEK Horizon 03iX will be shown. Both employ the trail-blazing DEK ProActiv process technology, which oscillates the squeegee blade during the printing process. This injection of energy into the solder paste shifts the traditional limits in solder printing and enables the reliable production of high-density boards with extremely small components. With the DEK Hawkeye and ProDEK systems, ASM SMT Solutions will show additional options for inline and closed-loop printing quality control. “Our DEK and SIPLACE teams look forward to their first joint trade show appearance in the U.S. Together we can offer our customers not only best-in-class print and placement solutions, but benefit them with our unique range of SMT process experience as presented at the show in our Process Solutions Network. Our goal is to make customer’s traditionally complex and trouble-prone SMT production processes simpler and more efficient with our software and hardware solutions, said Jeff Timms, who is heading the Americas SMT Solutions Team of ASM. For the first time, SIPLACE and DEK share a booth to present their products and services to U.S. electronics manufacturers.
