Advanced Printing & Placement technologies at new Brazil
facilities
ASM Assembly Systems had their official inauguration of the new Brazil headquarters
office, located in Alphaville, on the outskirts of Sao Paulo. The event was attended by
many visitors from various world class electronics manufacturers from throughout
Brazil.
As part of the celebration, in keeping with the company’s commitment to
continuously offer customers exposure to new technologies and assembly
techniques, the ASM team presented topics of interest representing many leading
edge areas of the electronics assembly industry from bare die applications to leading
edge printing and dispensing technologies. ASM applications engineers were on
hand to demonstrate DEK and SIPLACE equipment, process work flows, as well as a
tour of the new facility.
The presentation session began with Jeff Timms, CEO of the Americas. Jeff talked about the
broad areas of electronics assembly that are now covered by ASM, and the fact that ASM is
now the world’s largest assembly and packaging equipment supplier for electronics. He
continued with by discussing the key factors for success in today’s industry, and the next
level of automation and integration that will be required.
Next up was Mark Ogden, Marketing Manager for the Americas. Mark’s presentation
focused on trends in end products, component technology and manufacturing processes
that will be drivers for the electronics assembly industry in future. The presentation
concluded with the main areas that ASM will be focusing on in their Roadmap.
Full Service and insights for Brazil manufacturers
Cesar Takamine, ASM’s Country Manager for Brazil talked about the ASM Team and the
new ASM Office in Alphaville. The facility comprises a demo and training center, equipped
with SIPLACE SX placement machine, DEK Horizon Printer, Productivity enhancing
software and all the accessories to run advanced processes. Regular training classes will be
scheduled in Alphaville for DEK and SIPLACE equipment and associated programming and
vision systems. Training classes are free of charge for any SIPLACE or DEK customers.
Manufacturers will also be able to use the new facility for applications development: both
printer and placement machine have all the necessary options to test and run advanced
packaging processes. A Portuguese Language Hotline will be located in the building, as well
as applications engineers who can help customers simulate new line designs and
configurations.
Exciting innovations at Productronica 2015
The presentations were wrapped up by Gary Burroughs, ASM Latin Americas Sales
Manager, who gave an overview of Productronica 2015 and invited the visitors to attend
what is undoubtedly going to be the most comprehensive show of the year (for any
geography) featuring all the latest developments ASM has to offer - with a promise that there
are many exciting new offerings to be released by ASM in this year.
Visitors were then given equipment demonstrations on the DEK Horizon Printer, SIPLACE
SX placement machine and offline software. The afternoon concluded with an official ribbon
cutting ceremony.
