Lisle Senior High School 1800 Short Street Lisle, IL 60532 School Profile Community Lisle is a suburban community located approximately 25 miles west of Chicago in the “high tech corridor.” Lisle has a population of 22,930. School Lisle Senior High is a part of Lisle Unit School District #202. The unit district consists of two elementary schools, one junior high and one senior high—Lisle Senior High School. It is a comprehensive high school with a student population of 560 in grades 9-12. The high school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Illinois State Board of Education. Faculty The faculty consists of 52 certified staff members. Masters degrees or above are held by 75% of the staff. Curriculum Lisle Senior High School offers a curriculum of 104 courses at the local school building. In addition to this, Lisle is a member of the Technology Center of DuPage, where students may select from an additional 20 offerings. School Year The school year is comprised of two semesters. Each semester is 18 weeks in length. Upon satisfactory completion of work, students may earn ½ credit per course per semester. (The exceptions are Driver Education and Consumer Education. Both meet 9 weeks and students receive ¼ credit for each class.) School Day The school day consists of seven 50-minute class periods. All students are required to enroll in five classes plus physical education. Some students choose to take the maximum of seven classes. Graduation Requirements A total of 22 credits are required for graduation. English – 4 credits English I and II, which incorporates speech, are required for all freshmen and sophomores. Juniors and seniors may choose from a variety of courses in Composition/Grammar, Literary Skills and Speaking/Performance skills. However, one credit during their junior or senior year must be from the Composition/Grammar skills area. Social Studies – 2 ½ credits One credit in U.S. History is required during junior year and ½ credit American Government is required during senior year. The U.S. and Illinois Constitution test must be passed. In determining class rank, straight “A” students taking an overload schedule will retain the maximum semester GPA for placement purposes. Honors Courses An Honors section is available to qualified students in English I, English II, English III, AP Language and Composition, AP U.S. History, Biology Honors, Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Biology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Calculus AB. Beginning in the Fall of 2003 Explorations in Geometry, Explorations in Algebra II/Trig, and Explorations in Pre-Calculus were added to the list of Honors classes. As of the 2011-12 school year, all advanced math classes will be designated as Honors.
