Lisle Senior High School Profile 1800 Short Street Lisle, IL 60532 School Profile School Lisle Senior High is a part of Lisle Unit School District #202. The unit district consists of two elementary schools, one junior high and one senior high—Lisle Senior High School. It is a comprehensive high school with a student population of 514 in grades 9-12. The high school is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Illinois State Board of Education. Lisle is a suburban community located approximately 25 miles west of Chicago in the “high tech corridor.” Lisle has a population of 22,930. Faculty The faculty consists of 49 certified staff members. Masters degrees or above are held by 77% of the staff. Curriculum Lisle Senior High School offers a curriculum of 101 courses at the local school building. In addition to this, Lisle is a member of the Technology Center of DuPage, where students may select from an additional 20 offerings. School Schedule The school year is comprised of two semesters. Each semester is 18 weeks in length. Upon satisfactory completion of work, students may earn ½ credit per course per semester. (The exceptions are Driver Education and Consumer Education. Both meet 9 weeks and students receive ¼ credit for each class.) The school day consists of seven 50-minute class periods. All students are required to enroll in six classes. Some students choose to take the maximum of seven classes. Graduation Requirements A total of 22 credits are required for graduation. English – 4 credits English I, II, and III (or their Honors counterparts), which incorporates literature, speech, writing and grammar, are required for all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Seniors may choose from a variety of courses. Social Studies – 2 ½ credits Including 1 credit in U.S. History and ½ credit American Government. The U.S. and Illinois Constitution test must be passed. Mathematics – 3 credits Including 1 credit in Algebra and 1 credit in Geometry. Science – 2 credits Consumer Education – ¼ credit Physical Education – 3 ½ credits Health – ½ credits Music, Art, Career & Technical Education (CTE) or Foreign Language – 1 credits Driver Education – ¼ credit (Required to satisfy state safety requirement) Honors Courses An Honors section is available to qualified students in English I, English II, AP Language and Composition, AP Literature, AP U.S. History, Biology, Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Biology, AP Environmental Science, and AP Calculus AB. Beginning in the Fall of 2003 Explorations in Geometry, Explorations in Algebra II/Trig, and Explorations in Pre-Calculus were added to the list of Honors classes. As of the 2011-12 school year, all advanced math classes were designated as Honors.
