Central Timetabling – Proposed Key Dates for Production of 2015/16 Timetable
Task
(1) New 2015/16 database
Date
05 January – 09
March 2015
Responsibility
Central Timetabling
Service
Description
Creation of new 2015/16 database, health check of IT systems. Modules with their Activities details
will be rolled over from 2014/15 to the 2015/16 database where it is thought they could recur next
session. 14/15 timeslots and rooms will also be retained, (although this does *not* form a guarantee
that the same will be used again in all cases – this is especially true since ‘real’ student module
selections, which will naturally vary from year to year, have been used to construct the timetable).
(2) Schools confirm degree Mid February – 27
Schools

each active level of their degree programmes for 2015/16.

Schools to submit data relating to teaching requirements for 2015/16, including which modules are
submit Modules, Activities April 2015
running, the activities for each of those modules and the availability of their staff to teach. The WDC
& Staff data for 2015/16
is the primary data collection tool, but Word forms for activities data will also be permitted as
preferred by the Schools and cleared with the CTS. The WDC will be open on the dates detailed on
the left. Whichever data collection method is used, the timescale for return remains the same. New
staff availability information will not be accepted after the 10 April deadline.
(4) Schools submit student
30 March - 29 May Schools
Schools to input module selections for their returning students into the SMO screen in SITS. This
module selections for

data will allow CTS to base construction of the 2015/16 timetable on a smaller number of module

combination constraints.
**Achievement of the dates in tasks (5) – (8) below is dependent on the timely submission of School data in tasks (2), (3) and (4) above**

CTS constructs 2015/16 timetables, starting with those areas not dependent on the student module
selection data awaited from task (4) above
CTS continues to construct 2015/16 timetables, using the student module selection data collected in
task (4) above
The 2015/16 timetable is published online at http://timetable.dundee.ac.uk/. Schools to review and
feed back.
Changes will be made during late July and the first half of August. Note: CTS will not be able to
determine when Schools have no more changes to request – it must be a School decision to confirm
that their timetables can be regarded as ‘finalised’
